Hello everyone from the shores of Blackreef,
We’ve been quiet for a while following the Gülcemal update. The reason for this was that we wanted to focus on improving the game with a series of comprehensive changes. As we gradually move closer to the full release, we took the time to make the game more cohesive and easier to understand. During this process, we focused on visual improvements, mechanical adjustments, and optimization.
Here are the main updates we’ve made and are planning:
Visual Updates
Many of the assets in the game were carried over from the demo and early access periods. We have reworked and updated most of them. This allowed us to achieve a look that better fits the game’s tone while also improving overall optimization.
Additionally, since all ship entry areas have been updated, movement restrictions have been largely eliminated.
New ships will also be added to the game with this update.
Optimization
With the asset updates, we achieved significant optimization improvements. Alongside additional technical adjustments, we aimed to make the game more stable and maintain a more consistent FPS.
Water Update
The water system has been completely reworked and made much more realistic. At the same time, it has been prepared for the upcoming Underwater Update.
Mechanical Updates
The fax system has been completely removed. Jobs now come through the radio. This also allows you to hear short dialogues from captains describing what’s happening on their ships.
Job details are now presented more clearly. Additionally, tasks that previously overlapped on the desk and were easy to miss can now be viewed in a list format.
Inventory System
With the new inventory system, basic items used for jobs such as nails and light bulbs will no longer take up space and can be carried in unlimited quantities.
Items purchased from the market will now go directly into your inventory, removing the need to place them on shelves.
Cursed items, sellable items found on ships, and fish will still occupy inventory space. Bag upgrades will expand capacity specifically for these items.
We have also replaced the boxes used for selling with sacks to reduce visual clutter.
Calendar
With the newly added calendar system, you will be able to see upcoming events such as carnivals and storms in advance.
Tutorial
We realized that the tutorial videos were not clear enough, so we replaced them with more understandable visual guides.
Optional
There is something we’ve had in mind for a while but couldn’t implement due to time constraints: updating the characters to 3D.
During this update process, we revisited this idea but are still undecided on whether to proceed. You can see the 3D character designs we prepared below. We will open a poll on our Discord server and make the final decision based on your feedback.
We will be bringing all these updates to you on March 30.
With this update, we aim to bring the game one step closer to its full release. After that, we will begin working on the Underwater Update.
Please don’t forget to share your thoughts with us. Thank you for your continued support.
