changedThis approach extends across the entire underframe. Couplers, fans, and the compressor were all designed with a strong focus on both technical accuracy and visual consistency. The couplers in particular highlight this level of detail: hoses, cables, and mechanical components have all been modeled individually. Details such as the pneumatic short-circuit connectors on the bogie are included, as well as the electronic part of the coupler, which correctly folds out and connects when vehicles are coupled together.
addedIn addition, deliberate signs of wear have been added. Subtle dirt, light aging effects, and small details like weld seams or material transitions ensure that the underframe doesn’t feel sterile. Even small touches like grease marks in appropriate places have been considered.

One week after the last insight, we’re continuing right where we left off. This time, we’re taking a closer look at a technical part of the vehicle – specifically the underframe. This includes components such as the bogies, couplers, fans, and the compressor.

This is where the collaboration between Simuverse and 3DZug becomes especially visible. Technical requirements were defined together and consistently implemented throughout development. Thanks to a clear division of responsibilities, more time could be dedicated to individual components – which is clearly reflected in the overall level of detail.

The bogie was not treated as a single object, but instead broken down into many separate parts. Materials and surfaces are deliberately varied to create a more realistic overall appearance. At the same time, 3DZug’s years of experience come into play here – including the use of custom materials that have been developed and refined over a long period of time.

This approach extends across the entire underframe.

In addition, deliberate signs of wear have been added. Subtle dirt, light aging effects, and small details like weld seams or material transitions ensure that the underframe doesn’t feel sterile. Even small touches like grease marks in appropriate places have been considered.

This level of detail is not limited to a single area, but applied across the entire vehicle. The result is a cohesive overall impression, where many small elements come together to create something that feels believable and grounded.

Next time, we’ll take a look at where the Gisela will be operating and give you a small preview of the variety of scenarios.
