Street Dog Legend changes
Thank you for doggin' on for one whole year! If you've been starving for content (or hot dogs), I hope that the 2.0 ANNIVERSARY UPDATE can satisfy you.
This update brings some highly-requested QOL features, additional cart items, an additional game mode, and more. Let's get right into it!
Save Slots
Want to experiment with different builds, story paths, or stock options? Well - now you can!
STREET DOG LEGEND now has 3 save slots, which holds the autosaves for each day of your playthrough. You can also copy one slot over to the next for ease of use.
Existing saves will be migrated to slot 1.
New Upgrades
Ethan Buns has provided you - Tony Dogger - with the secret issue of the Quarterly Dog, containing several new upgrades for your street cart. You'll receive this magazine on Day 11 in a normal playthrough.
Let's dive into two of my favorites - SmartSauce and Mr. Sponge.
SmartSauce
Got a saucy order? SmartSauce makes it easy - auto-top your dogs perfectly!
Mr. Sponge
Mr. Sponge is the latest advancement in cleaning technology. He LOVES to clean up your messes.
Radio
You like Jazz? Oh - wait, you don't? Well now, that's perfectly acceptable!
After unlocking permits for each location, and visiting them once, you'll unlock a working radio, where you can swap out the tunes for your workday.
Choose from pop, techno, and one of hour 1950s AM radio (my personal recommendation).
Once unlocked, the radio will persist across all your future saves. For returning players, this radio should automatically unlock!
Battle Mode
Nobody asked for it, and nobody thought it was possible - but it's here. Multiplayer STREET DOG LEGEND is the latest foray in the online competitive landscape. Let's go over the new features:
Character Customization
Freely design your Dogger to match your style, or randomize them! This is how you'll be displayed in other opponent's matches.
Steam Multiplayer Support & Bot Matches
Battle Mode is fully integrated with Steam Multiplayer. Either invite friends to dog against them, or play a ranked match against someone random!
Considering that the avg daily players for STREET DOG LEGEND sits around ~2, I don't expect people to sincerely find matches this way. So, there's support for bot matches as well, which are unranked but then you get to out-dog a clanker.
Draft Phase
Probably my favorite part of Battle Mode is the "Draft Phase," where you and your opponent pick & ban the cart upgrades you do or don't want to compete with.
You feel confident with the Bun Grill and wanna screw over the other player? Pick it. You absolutely despise Soda? Ban it. Oh, your opponent picked it already? Counter-pick Supply Rats.
Battle!
On the streets of Uptown, battle against your opponent to make dogs faster, better, and stronger. You both receive the exact same customers, with the exact same orders - so whose the real legend?
More Stuff
Changes
New Pause Menu - load saves, open options, view trophies, and quit.
Customer now has preference on grilled items - no more mixed-types in a single order.
Soda moved to new area, both Soda and Chips enlarged for easier drag & drop
Rats assemble hot dogs in a smarter way, reading customer orders.
Intro cinematics remade in-engine. Now higher quality with reduced file size.
Fixes
Day 28 Dialogues don't repeat on scene reload
Skate Park no longer unbeatable at high lap counts
Contract characters consistent across sessions & saves
Customer facial hair correctly interacts with outline shader
Ambient sounds now loop correctly
Final Thanks (with mustard)
Thank you so much for playing STREET DOG LEGEND! This silly hot dog game means the world to me, Whether you've played through to a single ending, or are one of those real ones who have played 10+ hours, my sincerest thanks.
While I still have lots of ideas for the game and its world, this is going to be the last update for quite a while. No promises on a 3.0, unfortunately, but I don't think Tony Dogger's story is over either.
What Now?
Play STREET DOG LEGEND, of course!
I'm also working on a new (and very different) game - you can follow me on twitter for any updates (which will be coming in July).
If you're interested in playtesting the new game, I'd recommend joining the STREET DOG LEGEND Discord, which is the best place to keep up with updates on this game and the next.
Dog on, friends!
