Feature Focus: Digging
In StoneSpace, there are many different ways to gather the raw materials you need for crafting and construction. After crafting a shovel, one of them is digging directly into the ground beneath your feet to extract resources, like grass, soil, clay, sand, gravel, and more.
Different ground, different resources
Not all ground is the same. Forest floors, grassy plains, wetlands, beaches, and riverbanks all have their own makeup, and digging reflects that. A forest floor yields decomposing leaf litter at the surface, while grassy plains give way to soil, clay, and eventually gravel.
Depth matters
As you dig down, the chances of finding certain materials change. Clay, for example, becomes more common at greater depths, while surface materials disappear entirely.
Digging changes the world
Digging holes creates uneven terrain, preventing you from placing buildings on top of it. Dig deeper, and the hole becomes an impassable obstacle that you’ll need to work around.
You can also refill holes using a bucket of soil or other suitable material.
Look out for more instalments of Feature Focus as development continues.
