Sorry all, busy life has me behind on updates this month!
We have one update for last month because we overhauled the NPC command menu systems. It is now much smoother to give orders to your crew on the bridge, and we now have the system to add much more detailed orders and emotes. We also have a new chat box system, which is much easier to use than the old one. For anyone who missed it, our demo has now been accepted on GeForce Now. So everyone can give it a try :)
Development Build 0.227.0.8
I'd almost forgotten what it feels like to put a new build out! Hopefully, this was worth the wait, and I'm looking forward to hearing your feedback on the new Radial Menu and Task Management systems.
New / Changes
Added a new radial menu to replace the NPC and Holo-Display pop-up menus.
Clicking the left mouse button while looking at objects in the world will now trigger the most relevant default action for that object.
Pressing F (Action Key) while looking at objects in the world will now bring up a context-aware radial menu.
Updated the chair prop handling system to be the same as the player character version.
Updated the Holo-Display so that clicking on objects now sets a "Command Target".
Added a "Use CMD Target" button to both the Helm and Sensors stations.
Added new "Orders" buttons to the Helm and Sensors panels that list current station-relevant orders.
Added the ability to cancel ongoing orders.
Added the ability to queue up tasks for the NPC crew.
Built a whole new multiplayer chat system from scratch.
Optimisations
Significantly improved the tracing/sensing code for how the player character knows what it is currently looking at.
Fixes
Fixed bug 2528: Polarisation on the ceiling centre window blacking out stars.
Fixed bug 2521: No Mission Clock
Notes
Default actions for objects will be designed to make the experience as slick as possible. For example, left-clicking an empty chair will have you immediately sit down, while pressing F will bring up the various NPC options. Similarly, in the future, left-clicking an apple will allow you to move it around using physics, whereas pressing F would give you options such as "Hold" or "Eat".
This build represents the beginnings of proper task/order management on the ship. Simply raise a shipwide order, and the Task Management system will create and track individual bridge station tasks as needed, which can be completed by both Players and NPC crewmembers interchangeably.
