Star Wrath changes
Wanderers, we continue the development of the modifiers system and are ready to present the new 0.4.0 update titled “Data interception”.
New modifier “Data interception”
The Deimos station has been the center of a large industrial cluster near Mars for a long time. Corporations used it as a communications hub to coordinate the extraction of rare high-energy minerals used in reactor systems and experimental weapons.
To manage the massive flow of information in the sector, a network of autonomous logistics beacons was deployed. They synchronized the movement of cargo convoys, transmitted data between mining platforms, and stored backup archives for the industrial complex.
After the accident at the Deimos station, the project was officially shut down. The personnel were evacuated, and most of the infrastructure was abandoned. However, some of the systems continue to operate even years after the disaster.
When the modifier is active, one of the old beacons unexpectedly comes out of standby mode and begins transmitting encrypted corporate archives.
Wanderers can intercept the beacon’s signal by staying near it for a while. However, the station’s surviving security systems quickly detect the hacking attempt and activate defense protocols.
Emergency container
Each beacon is equipped with an emergency container; after successfully intercepting the data, wanderers can retrieve it and extract it from the sector.
The container’s signature is automatically broadcast throughout the sector, so its location is visible to all wanderers, even after it has been loaded into a ship’s cargo hold. To retrieve the contents of the emergency container, the ship must successfully evacuate the sector.
The container has:
Consumables blueprints
Module blueprints
Digital libraries
Encrypted data
Corporate data
Side job
After Earth’s destruction, bankrupt corporations, destroyed convoys, evacuated mining stations, and abandoned industrial projects left behind a vast amount of decommissioned vessels. Most of these ships have long been unsuitable for full-scale combat. However, even decades later, they remain capable of performing simple tasks, such as searching for resources in dangerous sectors.
Over time, the practice of temporarily requisitioning such vessels spread among wanderers. Using the remnants of old communication networks, anyone can gain access to a preset ship for a quick foray into a sector. Such vessels do not require registration, are not tied to an owner, and are considered expendable resources. In some circles, these ships have been called “ghosts”.
Ghosts rarely survive a serious battle. They are poorly armed, have weak defenses, and are assembled from salvaged components of various models. However, losing one costs almost nothing, so many use them for risky missions.
Side jobs is a new system that lets you utilize a ready-to-use ship. If you lose it, don't worry — just pick another one, there are no restrictions in how many you can use.
Ship outfitting
The “side job” ship is a slightly simplified version of a scavenger ship that has very low hull durability and weak weaponry.
The ship is equipped with 1 preinstalled machine gun with 150 bullets.
The ship has no shield.
The ship’s cargo hold volume is 50.
