Hi again, everyone! Sorry for making another announcement so soon after the last, everything I made for 1.3 came a lot easier than I thought it would.

addedRemoving Special OrdersThis is useful as I've been adding in more and more special orders every update, making it harder and harder for players to actually get things they want for their builds. Being able to remove special orders increases the odds that players will actually get upgrades they want to purchase when rerolling the shop.

Hi again, everyone!

Sorry for making another announcement so soon after the last, everything I made for 1.3 came a lot easier than I thought it would. No video for this update as it's mainly quality of life things, stuff that I don't think would make for an interesting video.

Shop Update

The main purpose of this update was to introduce two new mechanics to the shop, the favoriting and removing of special orders.

Favoriting Special Orders

You can now favorite (and unfavorite) special orders in the shop. Favorited special orders are automatically placed at the top of the list upon rerolling the special order shop and have their yellow star icon filled in, making it considerably easier to find them.

Removing Special Orders

Beneath the favorite button is the remove button, which removes the selected special order from the special order shop pool for the rest of the current run. Removing a special order from the shop costs 50 scrap.

This is useful as I've been adding in more and more special orders every update, making it harder and harder for players to actually get things they want for their builds. Being able to remove special orders increases the odds that players will actually get upgrades they want to purchase when rerolling the shop.

Special Order Glossary

Available from the main menu and pause menu is now the glossary, a sub-menu that can quickly show you every special order in the game. It has a functional searchbar at the top of the page which allows you to search for key terms related to the special order, or the name of the special order itself.

Upon clicking a special order in the glossary menu, you are shown its information, including its price, name, description, and upgrade use.

NOTE: The glossary does NOT show you special orders which you haven't unlocked yet.

New Special Orders

Two new special orders added to the base kit:

Other Patch Notes

  • Increased cost of Deliberate mindset from 850 to 1250

    • Note: I really did not realize how good this upgrade is. It essentially doubles the damage of all weapons if you can hit your shots, which you want to do anyways.

  • Decreased cost of Fresh Bullets from 200 to 100.

  • Increased cost of Magnetic Shrapnel from 150 to 250.

  • Increased cost of Ammunition Mold from 500 to 650.

  • Decreased cost of Circular Saw from 250 to 200.

  • Increased base cost of Katt Cartridge from 110 to 125.

  • Increased distance of Circular Saw hitbox.

  • Increased width and distance of Sledgehammer hitbox.

  • Decreased Company Care Package difficulty increase from 15% to 10%.

  • Fixed audio overlapping into the main menu after completing a mission.

  • Added enemy difficulty into the inventory STATS page

  • Doubled the chances of a boss Targinid spawning in endless mode.

  • Different menu themes now play based on the last level played.

  • You can now save and exit in endless mode.

    • NOTE: You can only save and exit after 5 minutes in endless mode to help prevent exploiting the feature. It's still exploitable in its current state, but I believe this is a nice middle ground.

  • Scrap Generators now stop moving and playing sounds once disabled.

  • Loadout now includes small images of the equipped weapons next to the relevant slot. Courtesy of Candarian.

  • Fixed some typos.

  • Added 1 new achievement for exploding a baby Targinid.

What's Next?

The very next thing I want to do is controller support, which I expect to be released around mid-late February. I'm in the process of getting a controller and testing how I want to actually implement it into the game. It's going to take some refactoring of current systems, primarily movement and some UI elements. It probably won't be a perfect controller UI setup and for that I apologize, but I hope when it comes out it's sufficient enough for those of you who'd like to play with a controller.

Outside of controller support, the next content update will probably be releasing around early-mid March. As with 1.2, I plan to make new levels, enemies, weapons, etc. There most likely won't be new features in 1.4 like there was in 1.2, but I plan to add two levels with more dynamic and interesting map elements to hopefully make up for that.

Come March I'll also be reconsidering the future of this project. I expect sales to be down this month from January, and if that trend continues into March, then I won't really be able to justify continued work on Space Trench. If that comes, I'll push out one more new level and see where that leaves us. I'll also still try to patch up bugs and exploits. But we'll talk more about that when it's relevant.

As always, please report any bugs you find and I'll patch them as fast I'm able, and good hunting out there!
