Space Scum changes
Christmas and the new year
As the year winds down and things start to go quiet, Ed and I wanted to take a moment to step away from the dev and speak to you properly.
Itās been a long road to get Space Scum to where it is today. We still remember the early days when this was just a series of scribbled notes and a bit of a pipe dream. Since then, weāve formed our small dev team, found a home with our publishers at Forklift, and finally reached the point in 2025 where we could actually let you have a look.
To Our Community
Seeing people finally engaging with the world weāve built has been, quite frankly, brilliant. We want to say a massive thank you to everyone who joined the playtests this year. Youāve pulled the game apart, questioned our logic, and provided the kind of detailed feedback that is actually helping us build something better.
Weād also like to give a special shout-out to a few people who have gone above and beyond:
theBadman, WARPORK, Dima - titans of the Discord server, message and bug reporting machines. Thank you for all your help.
Talon - a big thanks for jumping on a call and streaming to Ed to help out with a tricky bug. You have now officially spent more time speaking to Ed this year than 90% of his friends.
Everyone who provided detailed feedback - weāve had essays, 20+ bullet points of suggestions, miniature game design documents, and pure unfiltered streams of consciousness. We thank you for all of it. We canāt name you all personally but you no doubt know who you are.
A Bit of an Update on the Break
Regarding the Christmas period, things are going to be a little quiet on the community front. The support team over at Forklift are taking a well-earned fortnight off to recharge and spend time with their families, so they won't be around until the week of January 5th.
However, Ed and I will be sticking around. Weāve decided to work through most of the holiday period to ensure we can get a fresh update out to you as early as possible in the New Year.
Reading Your Comments
We also wanted to address something we know can be a bit frustrating. We read a huge amount more than we actually respond to. If youāve left a comment or a suggestion and we donāt reply personally, please don't think we havenāt seen it. We spend the vast majority of our time with our heads down in the development itselfātrying to turn that feedback into featuresāand we hope youād prefer us to spend our hours on the game rather than the keyboard.
Looking Ahead
2025 has been a big year for Space Scum but weāre hoping that 2026 is going to be even bigger. Weāve got new systems and plenty of fresh ways for your crews to get their heads blown off.
If you havenāt already, please do Wishlist the game and Join our Discord. It really does make a massive difference to a small team like ours.
Have a good Christmas, see you in the New Year.
Cheers,
Simon & Ed
