changedYes, it's not a joke. Yes, it’s really us. After so many years, we return with an updated, improved demo version of Sovereign's Will, a medieval political simulator where your every decision affects the storyline!
addedUnder the weight of a multitude of tasks, questions and routine, we slowed down, and Sovereign's Will plunged into production limbo. But even the barely smoldering development struck a spark: gradually, year after year, new mechanics, quality of life features, lore extensions, and new plot segments came to life. We dreamed of combining all this into a playable build, and finally, in early 2026, we decided: it’s now or never.
addedWHAT’S NEW
changed— Improved texts. We have edited every text in the game, from events to contextual hints. We strive for high literary quality, no compromises.
added— Brand new introduction. We have completely redesigned the beginning of the game — it’s now more dynamic. Konrad von Meinhart arrives in his native northern lands, and you take the first steps with him. The game immediately puts you in ambiguous situations and takes into account the decisions made.
changed— Coronation aftermath’s storyline. During the coronation, the first big event, you earn faction approval points with your decisions. In the previous version, this didn't really affect anything, but now the faction that remains unhappy will strike. The feudal lords, the Church of Unity or the Trade League — some of them will want to test the young ruler for strength.

The first demo version was released in 2020 at the Steam Summer Game Fest. There was a lot of friendly feedback, and we ourselves liked that part of the game, but it was just the foundation that had to be developed both in depth and breadth.

Under the weight of a multitude of tasks, questions and routine, we slowed down, and Sovereign's Will plunged into production limbo. But even the barely smoldering development struck a spark: gradually, year after year, new mechanics, quality of life features, lore extensions, and new plot segments came to life. A few months of hard work, and here it is — Sovereign's Will Demo 2.0

***

WHAT’S NEW

— Improved texts. We have edited every text in the game, from events to contextual hints. We strive for high literary quality, no compromises.

— Brand new introduction. We have completely redesigned the beginning of the game — it’s now more dynamic. Konrad von Meinhart arrives in his native northern lands, and you take the first steps with him. The game immediately puts you in ambiguous situations and takes into account the decisions made.

Coronation aftermath’s storyline. During the coronation, the first big event, you earn faction approval points with your decisions. In the previous version, this didn't really affect anything, but now the faction that remains unhappy will strike. The feudal lords, the Church of Unity or the Trade League — some of them will want to test the young ruler for strength.

— Redesigned interface. We've made the interface more concise — each mechanic has its own window dedicated to it, and the windows themselves have gotten rid of unnecessary visual noise.

— Updated list of parameters. We have reassembled the list of game parameters and divided them into two parts: the parameters of the domain (capital city) and the parameters of the board as a whole. The gameplay at the macro level becomes more convenient and intuitive.

— Sounds. The clink of brass plates in the main menu, the rustle of pages in the codex — with sounds, the game feels more alive and tactile.

— Expanded Codex. We developed and revised individual parts of the setting — for example, we thought over the geography of the world and created a unique calendar. The Codex has been updated with new articles.

Activities. The most significant innovation, which should be described in detail.

Sometimes you will get a «Free Time» event with several activities to choose from. Each one has a gameplay effect:

  • Temple visits, entertainment, and city walks help maintain the loyalty of the factions — the Church, the feudal lords, and the Trade League, respectively.

  • Conducting audits and reviewing court cases is an opportunity to gain resources, i.e. Gold and Authority.

  • Reading books provides unpredictable bonuses, depending on which book you come across.

In addition to the pre-known effect on parameters and resources, our activities start a thematic event with dilemmas, incidents, and unforeseen encounters: for example, an accident may occur on a hunt, an ancient treasure is hidden in a chapel, and in the city you can hear bards praising you or cursing you for cruelty. We hope you will appreciate this combination of story-based roleplay and «digital» mechanics.

***

Demo version 2.0 is a step towards a full-fledged release. In the depths of the internal build, mechanics and large plot segments are being prepared that you haven't seen yet: the ruler's routine is overgrown with details, and the plot becomes more detailed, deep, and variable.

If you're interested in seeing how Sovereign's Will turns out in the end, add the game to the wishlist and follow this path alongside us.
