Soundelta changes
We're ready to start this year off strong with a big update! (Yes this has been delayed quite a bit how could you tell)
This update includes design and functionality improvements to the game UI, technical improvements and bugfixes, and 2 new songs, including a very special map. More on that later!
Remember last time we said we were almost done with technical goals and would be shifting focus to content... Well that didn't exactly happen hah. But we think it'll be worth it because the things we've done this time allows for some neat stuff that you'll probably appreciate.
Let's get into it!
New Songs
AAquatek - Hyperbolic Sorrow
SD 6 / HD 8 / ED 11
Available in Singles Pack Steam post imageSay hi to Hyperbolic Sorrow by AAquatek, a fun and solid upper level song with a little spice
Tekno.logi - :Δ:
SD 6 / HD 8 / ED 10 / XT
Available in Singles Pack Steam post imageAnd the big one, :Δ: by Tekno.logi. No spoilers here.
Introducing the XT difficulty
With :Δ: we've added the XT difficulty, a special extra difficulty where we pull out all the stops and show off what Soundelta can really do. This difficulty has no number rating, and isn't strictly about just being hard, although that doesn't mean its easy ;) Enjoy!
UI updates
In this update, we've redesigned several parts of the UI with a new aesthetic, and added full keyboard navigation support! You now no longer need the mouse for anything outside of the editor.
Here's some of it!
There are also some smaller tweaks to improve readability across many parts of the game.
Audio calibration improvements
Audio calibration now gives additional information and feedback which should help you get it right
Rapidfire round!
Settings menu
Settings now apply immediately on changing them, instead of previously when they applied on closing the settings menu
Reduced health loss
The amount of health loss from misses has been reduced slightly(about 12%) on normal and extreme rates.
Font
Added font support for hangul, hiragana, katakana, and kanji.
Admittedly it was a bit of an oversight forgetting these
Hold note clipping
The hold note model now properly clips at the judgement line when you're holding or releasing it
And more!
See full patch notes for more small tweaks
Editor
New effects
You can now control camera position and rotation, and environment rotation and scale through the effect system.
The Override Camera Position toggle in the effects tab allows you to choose whether the camera position will be relative to the player's camera position settings or absolute.
Backgrounds!
This update also adds support for backgrounds, which you will see in the two new songs.
Technical changes
Game stability is still a bit of a mystery that's been hard to properly recreate or diagnose but we've done some proactive steps which may help with that, including fixing some asset loading/unloading issues and changing the game build to 64 bit. We've also improved the editor slightly, but that's an area that needs more work which will be done sometime in the future.
Bug fixes
Several bugs relating to the editor and ui mainly have been addressed this update. See the full patch notes for details
That's it for this update! See you next time.
Thank you for playing Soundelta!
