Soulmask changes
Hey, Chieftains!
Soulmask is part of the Steam Summer Sale! You can grab Soulmask at 20% off, pick up Soulmask: Shifting Sands at a historic low of 10% off, and we've also prepared a Deluxe Bundle with an extra 10% off.
As we mentioned in our 90-Day Overhaul Plan, a major update is arriving on June 26th at 07:00 UTC.
Soulmask This update includes a reworked combat experience and the long-awaited opening of the ancient ruins: the Cross-World Portal. You will find the full patch notes in no time. Now, let's take a closer look at what's new!
Combat Overhaul
When it comes to combat feel, we've been hearing your feedback since the launch of Shifting Sands and 1.0. We'll be honest — as a small studio, we're still learning in the realm of "combat feel." But we know we need to respond to your voices. So in this late-June quality improvement update, we've committed to polishing our core combat fundamentals:
We've refined the base attack and Mastery Skill animations for a variety of weapons, including longsword, gauntlets, spear, and more — with tweaks to animation expressiveness across the board:
Base attack animations, sprinting, dodging, and jumping have all been fine-tuned. In particular, when activating Mask Mimicry, you'll now have a brand-new teleport dodge animation.
We've added hit reactions to a large number of animals, and optimized the third-person camera distance when entering boss fights — giving you a better view of the boss's behavior.
Of course, these are just some of the changes — and we'll keep iterating based on your feedback. We welcome all your thoughts on combat feel. No matter what, Soulmask is listening!
World Portals
Yes, sorry to keep you waiting — in both single-player and multiplayer modes, the passage between Golden Sands and Misty Forest is finally opening. Chieftains can now freely travel to the other world and continue their adventure.
In single-player and multiplayer, we use a"save duplication"method to handle the transfer between the base game and DLC worlds. When you reach the massive portal at the top of the Pyramid or the bottom of the Golden Sands map, you'll be presented with your save list:
Note: In multiplayer, only the host can initiate a cross-world transfer. Once the host crosses worlds, all other non-host players (whether online or not) will be transferred as well.
Select the world you want to travel to — your character, registered Tribesmen, and inventory will all be copied to the new world, overwriting the target world's character data!
So heads up — make sure you organize your camp resources and pack your bags before setting off. But don't worry — our upcoming building mode and building blueprint features will make your cross-world adventures much smoother!
There's More!
Oh, and our Public Test Branch (PTB) is still actively being tested — we recently added a brand-new Red Stone progression system for you to try out! We warmly welcome all players to hop into our PTB. Your suggestions are what keep driving us forward~
Here's how to access the PTB:
Open your Steam Library
Right-click Soulmask and select"Properties"
Go to the"Betas"tab
In the access code field, enter: soulmaskptb123
Select the publictest branch from the dropdown
Wait for the game to update, then launch the PTB version
All of our experimental changes, including a comprehensive HUD overhaul, are being developed in this test branch. We welcome all feedback and suggestions for Soulmask — we'll be using this time to make the game better and better.
We'll have more news in July, including a building system rework — stay tuned! For now, take advantage of the Summer Sale and come experience our latest changes!
