Soulfall changes
Greetings, Soulfallen.
I have been very busy over the past 2 weeks implementing bug fixes, quality of life changes, and general improvements based on the incredible feedback I have received from you. I can't understate the appreciation I have for anyone who has played this game, and even moreso for those of you who have taken the time to offer feedback, criticisms, observations, etc. As a solo developer these issues can be hard to spot until someone else brings them up, so this really is incredibly valuable. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you find any issues with this current patch. Some of the more notabe changes listed below:
A mysterious new stranger waits for you at the gates of Hell, talk to him and see what he has to say.
A new boss can be found while descended, offering a chance at more powerful "Tier 2" loot.
A quest has been added that will allow players to obtain a weak starter weapon without relying on RNG.
Audio settings have been fixed, allowing you to change the volume for the music, footsteps, and general SFX.
A "How to play" screen has been added to help explain some concepts that may not be obvious at first.
Controls and "How to play" are now listed under the gameplay settings tab.
Improved spawning of crates, barrels, and shrines to avoid strange collision issues.
Level up bug has been fixed that caused the game to unpause before finishing upgrade selection.
Rank ups now require less marks of justice, as the level up algorithm has been switched from exponential to linear.
Armor values for different class armor types have been updated.
The ground slam indicator has been improved.
Capes, rings, and necklaces have been added to all drop tables.
Keyboard input no longer effects upgrade selection, meaning your character's movement won't get interrupted by a level up.
Upgrade re-roll cost has been added, displayed, and accurately accounted for.
A "close" button has been added to the descend screen, allowing you to back out of a descent if you entered the portal by mistake.
Inventory now automatically closes when you close a supply chest.
Deleting a character now prompts with a secondary window to verify you really want to delete.
Character creation can be exited early, via a "Return" button on the top right.
Several loading screen images have been replaced with higher resolution images.
You can now walk over fallen logs rather than having to jump, and enemies will path over them correctly as well.
Potions dropped from crates are now items that can be picked up and used by clicking, rather than being automatically consumed.
Updated file structure ensuring MUCH smaller update sizes moving forward (sorry this one is so big!)
And many other small tweaks
I hope all of you had a very wonderful Christmas, and will have a very fun and safe New Year. Know that I will be hard at work getting the Early Access build of Soulfall ready, and I can hardly contain my excitement thinking about all of the things I still have left to show you. It is not an understatement to say that you have only seen about 5% of what the Early Access will contain. Thank you again for being with me so early on in this journey. Truly, I could not do it without you.
