Solium Infernum changes
PLEASE NOTE: We have updated the server to facilitate this Patch. If you experience any ongoing connection issues (like turn timers zeroing out or error messages) please just exit the client - do not forfeit/abandon your games! - download the update via Steam, and dive back in. If you were in a sessional game, it will remain in progress and you will be able to re-enter via the main menu.
Hail Archfiends!
We bring you news of fine tidings from the capital, Pandaemonium. After months of playtesting and hardening in open beta, the 'Pinnacle to the Pit' update is finally upon us and live on Steam right now.
One of our most ambitious updates to date, v1.1.4 'Pinnacle to the Pit' has been a true labour of love for the Solium Infernum crew. Once again, a handful of Solium Infernum team members have returned for another tour of duty in the infernal pit, just to bring you an update of this magnitude.
Patch highlights include:
A new Event
New Artifacts
New Edicts
New Praetor (and Duelling Moves!)
The introduction of 'Slag' (sorrynotsorry)
A battle-hardened balance pass
Numerous fixes
...and a dastardly new Ritual allowing you to terraform the map in your favour!
Full patch notes follow below!
Shout out to former LoG crew but forever Solium Sickos, Will, Stephen and Matt, for joining us in tackling this update. With a special nod to Will whose insights, guidance and hard work are a huge part, if not the bulk, of this update. He remains perhaps the sickest of the Solium Infernum sickos.
And of course, we want to give a huge shout out to the dedicated beta playtesters who provided invaluable feedback and data from their time with the Pinnacle to the Pit beta. The entire SI community owes them a debt of gratitude, as an update of this scale and ambition at this point in the game's lifecycle simply would not have been possible without their assistance. Thank you, Archfiends!
Heads up for those of you still playing in the beta; the ability to start new games on the beta branch will be removed. However all beta games currently in progress can still be accessed via the beta branch. We will leave the beta branch open until the end of next month (August), at which point we will remove the beta branch and any games remaining in progress on that branch will be lost.
Lastly pals, it's worth stating that we're not sure how many of these updates we can continue rolling out. We'd love to get one out each year, just to nudge the meta in the right direction and keep Hell a little fresh for y'all. However, we are about to move into full production on another title and so any Solium Infernum work we are doing is being done 'on the side' - hence the time it's taken to pull this one together. Additionally, these updates are entirely funded by our minority share of the game's revenue after Steam and our co-financier's royalties are distributed. The game is simply not selling enough copies to cover the costs of developing future updates (or this one). Now, we may very well decide to set fire to some cash and push an update every so often (lord knows we haven't been able to help ourselves so far), but we can't make any promises and everyone's expectations should be in line with the commercial realities the game currently faces - and has for some time now.
With that said though, enjoy your big, new, dastardly, wicked, v1.1.4 update for the strategy game from Hell, The Pinnacle to the Pit!
If you're new around here, join us on the official League of Geeks Discord and let us know what you think of the update. There are plenty of other Archfiends folks for you to play with on there too!
As always, if you've enjoyed the game and haven't left a review yet, positive reviews actually do have a meaningful impact on sales. Reviewing the game and telling others about it remains the best thing you can do to support Solium Infernum and your pals over here at LoG!
That's it! Have fun and see ya in Hell, sickos! 🔥😈🤘🏼

The level-up thresholds for Places of Power have been lowered.

Stratagem power improvements are now unlocked on specific Wrath levels rather than every Wrath level.

The Shadow Binding Ritual now works every time, and no longer requires overcoming the target’s Ritual resistance.

Crown of Bureaucracy Relic no longer reduces the amount of Tribute you receive.
Bug Fixes
Fixed a softlock that occurred when returning a Titan affected by Infernal Juggernaut to the Bazaar.
Fixed a softlock that occurred when Shadow Binding was cast on a target belonging to a player who is then eliminated.
Fixed missing particle effects on Titans.
Fixed particle effects that were missing from the world map.
Fixed Artifacts of Sorcery showing the Wrath power icon on the Ritual Table.
Fixed Bifrons ’ protective ability not appearing correctly in the UI when Bifrons himself is targeted.
Vampiric Reaping now correctly heals a Legion, healing them immediately.
Shadow Binding's turn log message now correctly shows all available information about the Ritual's outcome.
The UI no longer “leaks” information about a target’s use of Evil Ward and Expose Treason Rituals.
Players will no longer have to pay the upkeep of a Ritual affecting a Titan on the turn said Titan is returned to the Bazaar.
Rituals that end on the same turn as a battle didn't count towards certain Schemes, like Deadly Doping.
A Regent with Ring of the Unnatural Prescience Relic and max Prophecy will now draw the correct number of Event cards.
Fixed an issue where Send Emissary tooltips incorrectly reported a three-turn duration instead of a dynamic duration based on rank and token count.
Fixed an issue where Archfiends with eight (8) in a Power were immune to losing points from this power.
Place of Power attachments will now correctly clear when the new owner has fewer slots or when the Place of Power becomes neutral.
Fixed an issue where an attachment could be transferred off a Place of Power even after it was captured.
Fixed an issue where the Scheme Goliath Slain (destroy a higher-level legion with only Stratagems) would not complete.
Cursed Personal Guard legions no longer return with their Cursed status while Death Takes A Holiday is active.
The Malevolent Totem Artifact's Malevolent Retaliation ability now deals the correct amount of damage if the user is killed before retaliating.
Abyss Leviathan and Angelic Host no longer disappear when no targets are immediately available.
Abyss Leviathan and Angelic Host now correctly count as higher level Legions/Titans for the purposes of completing Schemes.
The player is no longer considered to be in a Vendetta with Striders for the purposes of completing Schemes.
Fixed typo (“pusue”) in the Demand diplomatic action back-down text.
Fixed the current level and experience of the winning Praetor so that it displays correctly on the Duelling screen, rather than the values at the time of the duel.
A Legion's pawns will now visibly respawn when the Artifact Great Scythe ’s user is healed during combat.
Queen of the Damned's Black Adoubement ability no longer stops the Orb Of Oblivion Artifact from triggering.
The Orb Of Oblivion Artifact can now liberate Pandaemonium again.
Excommunicated players no longer start drawing Event cards when all players are excommunicated.
The Ring of Renewal Relic's description incorrectly says it increases healing rate and max HP "by 1". With this update, healing rate and max HP is actually increased by 2.
Known Issues
There is an irregular bug causing the end-turn button to disappear. This can be remedied by hitting the F5 button to refresh the UI, or failing that, leaving and re-entering the game.
Hellsculpted cantons have a chance to not visually show change in the terraforming if that canton has been hellsculpted twice.
Using the Hellsculpt Ritual to terraform cantons to the same type of terrain won't show them "combine" into a larger canton of that type until exiting the game and loading back in.
Dreaming Head Ritual has warped artwork in the Ritual screen.
Cannot read the tooltip of an ongoing Ritual card by mousing over it.
When selecting any Ritual card and dragging it to the Ritual slots, if you let go of it before the animation shows the card being in an actual Ritual spot, the Ritual card floats to the top and does not go back to your hand
Utilising the compare function to compare Praetors can trigger various minor UI layering and positioning issues.
Mousing over Artifacts (whether placed in the menu to the left or the actual cards being used in Rituals do not show up the tooltip indicating what the ritual does.
After casting an Artifact to a Ritual slot, moving your mouse around the Ritual screen can mouse over the cards in your hand even when you're not trying to.
