addedWoooooo it's been a fun few days - diving into bug fixes, adding some cool new features and a lot of prep for upcoming work! We sort of have a part 1 post right here, where I fix some bugs, introduce a new feature and make moves towards a bigger community-driven gameplay experience.
changedSlice (PS4) was a game dedicated to the single player. With Overdrive, I'm really trying to expand this gameplay to extend to your friends with competitive leaderboards, level editing and sharing and community engagement and feedback. This starts with the addition of community-voted difficulty, with a few big features to follow!
addedLevel DifficultyDifficulty is highly subjective, but it's important to give it a start! So all creators can now give a difficulty to their levels that adapt as player feedback comes in
changedLeaderboard Version NoticeNow when a level is updated, you'll see a notice on the leaderboard if you've previously had a ranking reminding you to play it again to get back on the leaderboard
fixedSocial and Replay FixesThis update also fixes the issue with replays rarely being overwritten
fixedSocial and Replay FixesSocial was fixed to allow ratings on levels you haven't played on yet

Slice (PS4) was a game dedicated to the single player. With Overdrive, I'm really trying to expand this gameplay to extend to your friends with competitive leaderboards, level editing and sharing and community engagement and feedback. This starts with the addition of community-voted difficulty, with a few big features to follow!

Level Difficulty

  • Difficulty is highly subjective, but it's important to give it a start! So all creators can now give a difficulty to their levels that adapt as player feedback comes in

  • Difficulty rating is allowed on levels you haven't played or completed yet

  • Difficulty is just a guide, to assist in describing a level before you play it

  • SORTING by Difficulty is coming in a future update

Level Details

  • A big rewrite of level details has allowed for rating on levels that you haven't played on yet

  • An area dedicated to level feedback has been setup with the core features

  • Use your imagination to fill in the gaps with the unannounced features ;)

  • Also just ignore the fact that I'm 3rd because the alpha testers are just good ok...

Leaderboard Version Notice

  • Now when a level is updated, you'll see a notice on the leaderboard if you've previously had a ranking reminding you to play it again to get back on the leaderboard

Social and Replay Fixes

  • This update also fixes the issue with replays rarely being overwritten

  • Social was fixed to allow ratings on levels you haven't played on yet

  • Fixed menu tabs sometimes missing focus - breaking keyboard-only

  • Fixed icons not being updated coming back from a level

  • Rebuilt level cards to be more flexible and work with modals better

Replay Adjustment

  • Removed the "Best Run" button in favour of a player visiting the Leaderboards to view the replays - might be controversial but the button felt out of place for so long, and didn't need to be on the same weight as Play or Exit

Ok, thanks for reading - let me know what you think of these latest changes!
