Skopje '83 changes
We are happy to bring you The Guided Mode Update.
This is one of the biggest updates we’ve released so far, and it changes the way the game can be experienced in a major way.
Originally, the game was designed as an easter egg hunt: a strange city full of secrets, hidden objectives, and things you had to piece together yourself. That style is still there for players who enjoy it, but we also wanted to make sure that everyone can experience everything the game has to offer. That’s where this update comes in.
Guided Mode
Guided Mode is our main new feature that adds clear objectives, map markers, and notifications for completed steps. This means you can now play through the main content with a more linear approach. Take full advantage of the new Objective tab in the PRP where you can now track objectives.
This is an optional mode that can be turned off anytime or tweaked to fit your playstyle the best.
New Enemies
New enemy types have been added to the game, bringing new threats, encounters, and surprises as you explore.
Quality of Life & Accessibility
This update also includes several big features and improvements aimed at making the game much more accessible.
Run Saving
Previously, every time you started playing, you had to begin a new run. With this update you now have the option to continue your previous run or start a new one.
Permanent World Change Notifications
The game now has a dedicated notification when a permanent world change happens. This appears regardless of whether Guided Mode is enabled, so all players get clearer feedback when their actions have changed the city in a lasting way.
Compass
The compass has been one of the most requested features for a while. It will show objectives, other players, DOM and nearby points of interest.
You can now enable it in the settings to help orient yourself while exploring the city.
New Map Markers
We’ve added new map markers for certain important locations across the city. These markers are available regardless of whether you are using Guided Mode, helping all players better navigate key areas without removing the sense of exploration.
Interact Markers
Interactable objects are now visibly marked from a distance. This should make important objects, doors, pickups, and other interactions much easier to notice while moving through the world. Interact markers can be toggled on or off in the settings.
Item Sorting
We’ve added an item sorting button to the inventory. This should make inventory management quicker and less frustrating, especially during longer runs.
New Machine-Translated Languages
We’ve added machine-translated support for several new languages:
Spanish
French
German
Italian
Ukrainian
Russian
These translations are still a work in progress, so feedback is very welcome. Please use the feedback links in the options menu if you notice incorrect translations, awkward phrasing, or anything that could be improved.
Other Improvements
This update also includes major performance improvements, especially in certain areas of the city with denser details and geometry.
Lots of fixes for visual effects, UI, floating geometry, missing or misplaced colliders and enemy AI.
A lot of these changes are based directly on player feedback.
Thank you to everyone who has played, reported issues, shared feedback, and supported the game so far.
Big thanks to Meta Forum and Teminix for the interview. It's so strange and heartwarming to see how far we have come as a team.
See you in Skopje!
