It's finally here! The last major update has arrived bringing so much to Sketchy's. This update focuses on replayability, progression, and simplification of systems to make the game as intuitive and engaging as it can be.

Players can finally do work for the burger Shop, Cook a Big Bang Burger, and make strategic decisions about which planets to travel to based on their needs and conditions making each contract different than the previous.

So here it is, 0.7.0.0!

NEW

The Burger Shop Redesign

With this last update, players will finally participate at the Burger Shop, which is now a thriving fast food stop for extraterrestrials. Here are the key elements:

  • The Burger Shop has an Inventory Room that players can restock with specific food items to gain access to the following perks:

    1. 20% Inventory - Cooking Machine

    2. 35% Inventory - Coffee Machine

    3. 50% Inventory - 30% Payment Bonus

    4. 60% Inventory - Reduced Revive time from Med Gens.

    5. 70% Inventory - 30% Discount on Black Market Goods.

    6. 85% Inventory - Weapon Perks for both T2 and T3.

  • As aliens land their spaceships and order food, inventory will be slowly consumed - with very little consumed while at Sketchy's.

  • Aliens still visit the burger shop while players are on a planet / in orbit, but the inventory consumed doesn’t get reflected until players travel orbits. This is in place to make sure any perk you had active prior to landing, won’t be lost mid-contract on a planet which would hinder gameplay.

  • Cooking System - one of the perks you'll gain access to is the ability to cook a Big Bang Burger! (I feel a lot of you saying "FINALLY!!"). Burgers heal you to full health then provide an additional 2% health per second for 30 minutes! The burger buff does not last through death.

  • Coffee Machine - another perk is the ability to brew Sketchy Coffee. Coffee reduces the rate at which your stamina declines by 5X for 15 minutes allowing you to run for quite some time before running out of breath. The burger buff does not last through death.

  • New Storage Item: "Burger Shop Crate"- allows players to place 20 burger shop specific items into the crate which can then be brought to the burger shop to directly feed into the inventory shelves.

The Planetary Conditions System and New NPC

This new system brings Planetary incentive to Sketchy's, meaning that farming harsher planets has value and that even avoiding "easy" planets might be in your best interest from time to time. Preparing for your next trip and where you decide to land will matter. Here are the key elements:

  • Each Contract (T2 and T3), random conditions both negative and positive are generated for each map.

  • There are 16 different planetary conditions - 8 negative and 8 positive.

  • Negative Conditions range from Night Shift Contamination to No revives.

  • Positive Conditions range from all enemies dropping coin pouches to Level 3 containing a massively expensive golden egg!

  • Players will want to see which planet will be most appropriate to their needs based on the conditions which will dramatically alter the way you travel throughout the Sketchy Galaxy.

  • New NPC as one of the positive Conditions:"Black Market Vendor"- this vendor appears randomly on different planets each contract with special goods that are considered extremely powerful but as you might imagine are very expensive.

    1. (NEW) Massive Portable Storage - carries 3000 worth of quota and can store any loot including Elizabeth and substances.

    2. Compact Gathering Capsule (moved here from T3) - carries 1000 worth of quota.

    3. (NEW) Contamination Purifier - removes any and all forms of unbreathable air on the planet.

    4. (NEW) Time Manipulator - stop times for 5 minutes.

    5. (NEW) Death Ray - instantly kills an enemy.

    6. Ultimate Boombox (moved here from T3)

    7. Sun Sword (moved here from T3)

    8. Galactic Axe (moved here from T3)

    9. Pulse Rifle Supreme (moved here from T3)

    10. Cosmic Blast (moved here from T3)

    11. Hypernova (moved here from T3)

  • New Night Shift Creature that spawns on Tier 2 and 3.

Gameplay

  • Storage bins/crates now have vertical snap-placement when in placement mode.

  • Night Vision now shows the nameplates of all teammates on the map allowing you to find your friends very easily when you or someone else gets lost.

  • Night Vision now also displays the distance beneath the name of a teammate allowing for more precision when looking for friends.

  • Night Vision displays player-activated Oxygen Reservoirs.

  • Dying now displays the location of where you last died for 5 minutes, allowing you to easily find the loot you dropped.

  • A Main Objective Message will now appear for Tier 1 players at the top of the screen when logging into the game giving them steps to follow to complete the core gameplay loop.

UPDATES

Map Design

  • Complete Overhaul Level design for Port Sahariss with Level 1 being an oasis and Level 2 being an Ancient Temple.

  • And of Course, there is a New Furniture that comes with this redesign - Anubis Statue!. The Lava Lamp now spawns in Port Ragnar and the Firepit is now a purchasable furniture from the Furniture NPC.

  • (NEW) Unique level 3 loot added for Port Sahariss.

  • Redesigned Level 2 area for Treasure Island.

  • Redesigned Level 1 and 2 areas for Port Glacial.

  • Redesigned Level 2 area for Port Ragnar.

  • Updated Level 1 layout of Port Ragnar.

  • Updated Level 1 area of Port Lumin.

  • Replaced all floating rock jumping areas in Port Aeriss with stable bridges to walk across (remember those slippery falls?).

  • Lasers have been removed from all maps except Sector Zero.

  • Updated Security Level elevator transport locations for Port Lumin, Ragnar, Sahariss, Sector Zero, Glacial, and Aeriss.

  • There are now Force Fields blocking entire security levels preventing players from exploring the area until the Security code is entered. This will help prevent new players from getting lost in areas they don’t have access to yet.

  • Teleporter Generators are now protected by a Lurk Root. This concept falls in line with the upcoming Story at Full Release that explains their existence and how they interfere with technology.

Flashlight and Oxygen have been completely redesigned:

  • Oxygen now automatically replenishes over 4 (or 5 I don't remember) seconds whenever entering the ship, med bay, teleporter room, or standing next to an Oxygen Reservoir.

  • Suit Chargers have been removed.

  • (NEW) Oxygen Reservoir - 1-handed item that can be placed anywhere then activated to provide unlimited oxygen to anyone standing next to it. Additionally, activated Reservoirs can be seen via Night Vision making them great markers.

  • The Rate of O2 decay in contaminated zones is now the SAME ON ALL TIERS rather than becoming increasingly more demanding with each tier. So if you notice O2 going down a bit more in this update, that's why.

  • The O2 suit modifier has been reduced to 10 oxygen per point down to 20 as it plays a new role in synergy with Oxygen Reservoir Items.

  • Night Vision now passively recharges when shut off.

Level 3 Changes

  • Level 3 is now a “Loot Stash Building” meaning that it spawns 3 pieces of loot rather than just one and also a bunch of credit pouches!

  • Each level 3 Building except the one with an Egg now spawns a Grocery Bag containing a large amount of food items intended to be used for Restocking Burger Shop Inventory (use it how you wish). This makes pushing for Level 3 incredibly valuable for maintaining burger shop perks.

  • Level 3 sketchy substances have been replaced with new loot items.

Item Changes

  • Increased Damage of Cosmic Blast explosion proc from 50% increased damage to 100% increased damage.

  • Reduced Shotgun range by 20% but increased its damage by 30%.

  • Increased Attack speed of Sun Sword by 10%.

  • The Flamethrower is now available for Purchase on T1 and price reduced from 200 to 100.

  • T3 Items have been migrated over to the black market.

  • T1 Boombox has been removed due to some Sketchy activity from a Black Market Vendor.

  • T1 and T3 med gen have been removed due to some Sketchy activity from a Black Market Vendor.

  • Scythe damage now does 45 damage baseline making it better than the Flamingo sense it cannot be looted on T1 Contracts as is.

Revive / Death Penalty Changes

  • Installing a Med Gen now automatically begins reviving any player that is already dead.

  • If players team wipe with a med gen installed, the med gen will be consumed to prevent players from being sent back to orbit and losing all progress. A new med gen will need to be installed for future revives.

  • Removed the stacking revive time penalty.

Enemy Changes

  • Reduced the number of missiles Pew Pew fires to 3.

  • Reduced Pew Pew's health.

  • Reduced Jelloti's Health.

  • Increased health and damage of Hell Hound and Tremasaur.

  • Increased the price of Hell Hound and Lavasaurus corpses.

  • Increased the time it takes for droids and undead to respawn.

Tier 1 Changes (New Player)

  • Standing in the Med Bay now provides 20 health every 3 seconds up from 5 health.

  • Med Gen is automatically installed when landing the ship.

  • Planet Orcoon is now the only available planet until Tier 2.

  • Tier 2 can now be singed at 900 quota rather than 1600 quota allowing players to experience the “normal” more difficulty of the game more quickly.

  • Signing down to a Tier 1 Contact now defaults the starting quota to 1600 rather than 200.

Quality of Life

  • Players can now rotate items/weapons while in placement mode just like they can with furniture.

  • Boombox will now keep track of the currently played song even when mouse wheeling to different items. No more needing to keep spamming “change song” to get back to your favorite track after killing a monster or looting some items.

  • Player items such as Weapons and Storage Crates are now Highlighted (visible through other objects) when they are scanned to make them more visible when searching for them. This is especially helpful when looking for dropped items on death or when dropping storage crates while looting and/or trying to place a large 2-hander into storage.

  • Players now only need to type the Access Code itself, for example: “123”, instead of “Lvl 1 123“, for access to security level 1. The game will automatically search for the access level corresponding to the code you gave it, greatly simplifying the amount of typing at the search command.

  • Removed the “SCN” feature from the Ship Computer.

  • Increase the number of items you can order of a specific type from the Store droid from 4 to 8.

  • Cleaned up and simplified the Ship Computer to be more intuitive/easier to use.

  • Removed the self revive prompt on solo that gave 10 seconds to choose the revive option. Solo players will automatically begin revival on death.

  • Teleporter Generators now highlight when they are scanned, signifying their importance and making it easier to see them through the Lurk Roots that now block them.

General

  • The Tier 1 and Tier 2 buttons in the Space Shop Menu have been renamed to “Utility” and “Weapons” to better organize and make browsing for items more intuitive.

  • The Digging Modifier now increases the player’s chance of digging up a pirate booty!

  • Lurk Root damage increased slightly on T2 and significantly on T3 to balance with the latest buff to player base health through leveling.

  • Lurks Roots no longer need to be harvested to collect them. Simply pick up the Lurk Root once you’ve burned it.

FIXES

  • Fixed an issue where Pew Pew would shoot infinitely when a boombox was on the ground playing.

  • Fixed an issue where AI were not walking around in Port Glacial Level 1 and 2 areas.

  • Fixed an issue where the Night Substance explosion was not killing max level players.

  • Fixed an issue where the Darkwood level 2 teleport was teleporting players to level 2 instead of level 1.

  • Fixed an issue where Killing a Hatching before it hatched gave a different quota value than killing a hatching after it hatched.

  • Fixed an issue where Teleporter Destinations at Port Glacial were incorrect.

  • Fixed a issue with the Lurk Root’s hitbox being way too large which could prevent damage from being dealt to nearby objects/enemies.

  • Fix an issue where the Burger Shop radio was displaying “turn on” when hovered over rather than “turn off” and would only turn off after pressing twice.

  • Fixed Gathering Capsule attachment orientations for various player skins.

  • Fixed an issue where dug up mimics would have 100 health regardless of the Contract Tier.

  • Fixed an issue where digging would be prevented if your action bar was full.

  • Fixed an issue where trying to rotate an item/furniture in placement mode while hovering over another cosmetic would store the cosmetic away rather than rotating the current once.

  • Fixed an issue where sometimes the spaceship remains invisible after the night shift ends typically when returning to orbit.

  • Fixed an issue where the placement size of for ice cream maker was incorrect.

  • Fixed an issue where the loot converter displayed “replenish weapon”.

  • Fixed an issue where Singing down/up a contract would remove quota requirements from furniture cosmetics.

  • Fixed an issue where the Frog Suit was not holding the Sandworm corpse properly.

Expected Full Release Date?

I am targeting early June of this year, but there is no set date as of now. As I get closer, I will make the proper official announcement with date reveals etc., but I wanted to give you an approximate date, so you have some idea of what to expect.

Post Full Release

Once Sketchy's has released, I will be pushing hotfixes only as needed, with hotfixes slowing overtime, but there will be no major updates.

As for my plans as a game developer following the completion of Sketchy's? I'll talk more on that once Full Release is live.

I am so excited to release Sketchy's. Thank you so much to everyone who has and still continues to support!
