🏔️ Survival Never Looked So Picturesque

Towering peaks. Blood on snow. Aurora borealis. Your next postcard moment is just around the corner—and so is your next enemy. Or ally. Or both. There’s only one way to find out!

Does it sound amazing? Great! Here are some quick tips (potentially spoiler-like, you know, if you like exploring all on your own).

How to Get Started

Silent North can be a challenge at first. Make sure to take time to learn the basic controls. Open the map, see where you are, and make sure not to explore the snowy regions until you find something to keep you warm.Bigger towns usually mean more loot, but they can also mean more zombies and potentially more players, so choose your next destination carefully. To identify a bigger point of interest, refer to its name size. Bigger names are bigger places with a higher building density to explore. Smaller names are smaller villages.

Gear Up

Now that you have picked a destination, try to reach it without triggering a zombie. Find a weapon to allow you to fight back if you need, find food and drinks to stay alive and potentially an outfit to protect you against the weather or against damage.

Armored outfits (police, military, etc…) will offer better protection against damage while temperature proof outfits (firemen, winter coats, etc…) will offer protection against the cold.

If you find wood, make sure to keep it somewhere in your backpack. This is your best chance to survive a cold night in the north.

PvE

Zombies are not the biggest threat, but they can lure your biggest threat if you are not careful! Zombies are usually easy to take down. Aiming for the head will help you get rid of them quickly. But make sure to be quiet as other players may use the noise to locate you and track you down. Unless you are trying to lure players, make sure to use your melee weapon and avoid zombies as much as you can. Being chased around the city is the best way to give up your position when other players get to the area.

PvP

If you encounter other players, it is your choice to avoid them, track them, or try to have a conversation with them. With proximity chat, you can try to convince them to join you, convince them to surrender and handcuff them, or simply shoot them down. Be careful, because a downed player might turn into a zombie after a bit! Note that the player does not play as a zombie, but his character returns as a zombie NPC.

Useful Tips

  • Holding the menu button (X) will open the map.

  • Height calibration cannot be accessed while in the server.

  • Smooth/Snap turning can be set from the setting menu.

  • Players may turn into zombies after death, watch out!

  • Locking the door from the inside will keep it locked for X minutes.

  • You can break free from handcuffs by hitting them on a surface, or have someone shoot them off.

  • When you go offline, your character is sleeping on the server.

  • Containers you can loot will highlight in orange when you reach out to them.

  • You can access your outfit menu from the backpack. Clicking the trigger on it works even if you are holding an outfit.

  • Jumping and crouching is performed from the pushing right joystick up or down.

  • Zombies can chase you indoors, make sure to close doors behind you.

  • Some outfits provide better damage protection, while others may provide better protection against cold.

  • Starting a fire can be performed in a fireplace by placing a stick bundle in the slot.
