What changed
- UI and audio
Here's where Sick Samurai's at at the beginning of February.
Everything is about getting the demo done and released as soon as possible. I've got about a week of visual polish work left to do, and all that's left after that is the audio - a handful of music tracks and sound fx, the recording of the voice lines, and the final mixing of it all. I expect it'll take me just over a month to get that all done. Finally, we'll do a week or two of private playtesting, and the public release will follow immediately after that - so you can expect to be playing no later than April!
In the meantime, we've finished designing all of the enemies and characters for the game's second act. This act features a style inspired by Western and Japanese hip hop cultures, mid 20th-century jazz culture, yakuza and island-wear influences, and a touch of the 1970s.
This act also features two samurai boss characters:
Damien is Jones' (the bartender) younger brother and the ruler of the island's city. He's known for his unusual style of dual-wielding katanas.
Violet is Damien's partner in ruling as well as being his questionable romantic interest. She prefers to fight from a distance, using a miniature crossbow and throwing knives, though she also keeps a long dagger on hand just in case.
