Shotgun King: The Final Checkmate changes
After quite a few weeks of closed beta, we're getting ready for release with a quick round of public beta!
v1.6 adds quite a lot of new content, and some rebalancing, so it's far from impossible that things would break here and there. Please let us know on our Discord! Some things we're particularly looking for: any bugs at all. does the game play well with a controller? on a Steam Deck? any problems on MacOS?
We're already aware of one visual bug where the "HD text" is broken on some computers, we'll be fixing this soon. We're also currently working on updating the various translations.
To join the beta, go into the game's properties in your Steam library, go to the "Beta" tab, and switch your beta branch to "public-beta v1.6".
Here is the current changelog for version 1.617b:

[NEW] New Mode: Charnier
- [NEW] Throne Mode+2 new shotguns.
- [NEW] Throne Mode+5 new ranks to smooth out the difficulty curve
[NEW] +11 Achievements (+7 from new ranks & new shotguns) (the new achievements are not yet activated on Steam)
[UI] grenade damage is now displayed when you have grenades
[REWORK] Unfaithful Steed become Faithfull Steed: adds 1x Black Knight and lets you travel with it
[REWORK] pieces in jail no longer block other pieces
[REWORK] The boss can now call for pawns if there's no pawn on board
[VISUAL] August Presence and Selective Listening now show how they affect piece's moves
[BALANCE] Holy Gunpowder now has -1 ammo max
[BALANCE] High Focus firespread bonus is now -10° (previously -18°)
[BALANCE] Ritual Dagger now gives the white King -3 hp (previously -2 hp)
[BALANCE] Removed Extra Barrel firespread drawback (previously +7°)
[BALANCE] Engraved Scope now also gives +1 firepower if not in check
[BALANCE] The piece that kills the Holoking is now stunned for 2 turns
[BALANCE] Throne rank 6 now adds a special attack to the boss instead of +10° spread
[BALANCE] Sokoban now stuns pushed pieces
[BALANCE] Karma now flips when a pawn promotes
[BALANCE] Knightmare doesn't add a knight anymore
[BALANCE] Chase Mode: +1 extra turn when you take a munition crate
- [BALANCE] Chase ModeDeep Water removed from pool
[BALANCE] Egotic Maelstrom now takes 12 turns to take effect (previously 10)
[BALANCE] Grenades now fall in holes and deal +2 damage on that square
[BALANCE] The Mole no longer gives +1 ammo. Spies now turn into black pieces when promoting.
[BALANCE] Royal Loafers: +15% spread malus when used.
[BALANCE] Caltrops slow effect now stack if you have more than one caltrop card.
[BALANCE] Bloodless Coups: Now gives -15° firearc
[BALANCE] Knightmare: Knight become visible if they're threatening you
[BALANCE] Mangonel: Shooting doesn't replace the rook's move anymore. rook speed: -2 (was -1)
[BALANCE] Engraved Scope: Replaced the +1 firepower with +1 firerange (+2 total)
[BALANCE] Fear doesn't apply anymore on pieces killed by non-king black pieces
[BALANCE] Makeda now has butcher effect: "Blade is no longer restricted to finishing kills".
[BALANCE] Bleeding and Death Mark now survive piece promotion.
[BALANCE] Richard II pierce is now 40%. (was 25%)
[BALANCE] Wand of gust now delays pieces' next move by two turns.
[ERGO] The danger visualization on middle-click has been removed
[ERGO] You can now press "enter" to fire shotgun
[FIX] backups that can't spawn now wait for the next turn to spawn
[ENGINE] Upgraded to SUGAR v0.0.8
