Short Adventure changes
This update comes with some changes to the game as well and more content being loaded in for preparation of the major story update. Make sure your game says version 2.5.1 after performing the update! The changes are listed below.
Status Effects:
The following status effects will now linger after battle if it isn't cleared beforehand:
Poison (no change) Blind Silence Burn Paralysis
This is to create a bit more of a challenge for more experienced players. However, the fact that these effects can wear off DURING battle has not been changed.
Effects:
Dozens of new animations, effects, and sounds have been added and incorporated into the characters abilities and attacks. Enjoy the new visuals when you are fighting in battle with your favorite party members! This was done to avoid enemy and guest characters having too many animations that were similar to the main cast.
Balancing:
There have been several balance changes for a few characters:
Amara
Base attack raised. She is now comparable to Escarlata.
Melrose
Slight parameter raise.
Mishiru
Slight parameter raise. MP costs have been raised slightly. Power of certain moves has been raised.
Kasai
MP costs have been raised. TP costs have been lowered. Power of certain moves have been raised. Damage formula for Lash attacks has been raised and adjusted to hit enemy physical defense and base the power off of Kasai's magic attack.
Equipment changes:
Heavy Armor has received additional bonuses. This was done to make it so that the General Armor set is not so dominant.
Ability Changes:
There are several ability changes and/or renaming for the characters in game:
Amara:
Frenzy Dance --> Berserker Frenzy The original buff has been removed and now it inflicts the Berserker-NYA state. It provides a larger attack boost than two casts of Frenzy Dance. The new additional effects are: Defenses nearly cut in half 2% HP and MP lost per turn 15% TP regen per turn The move description has also been changed. "Amara goes all out, sacrificing some HP and her defenses to dramatically increase her attack and speed for a while."
Streya:
Several moves have been renamed, but the effects and power remain the same.
Shadow Offensive no longer provides a stackable buff and instead inflicts the You're Mine! state. The buff from this is higher than a single cast but lower than a double cast while keeping the same counterattack rate.
Bright Shield no longer provides a stackable buff and instead inflicts the Try Me! state. The buff from this is higher than a single cast but lower than a double cast while keeping the same evasion rate.
Esmeralda:
Driven no longer provides a stackable buff and instead inflicts the Found My Target! state. The buff from this is stronger than a single cast but weaker than a double cast.
Fury Wind no longer provides a stackable buff and instead inflicts the Sucks To Be You! state. The attack and spirit buff is stronger than a double cast, while the defense, magic defense, and agility buff is stronger than a single cast but weaker than a double. The move also now adds an accuracy boost, a counterattack rate boost, a critical hit rate boost, an MP regen, and a TP regen. The HP recovery has been reduced. Rage is still inflicted from the move.
Kiara:
Rally no longer provides the stackable buff and instead inflicts the Forward! state. The attack buff is higher than a single cast while keeping the same counterattack rate boost.
Toughness no longer provides the stackable buff and instead inflicts the Stand Strong! state. The buff to both defenses is higher than a single cast while adding a boost to evasion rate.
Isabella:
Strikeback now also boosts defense and places her in a guard state, allowing her to take less damage in the event that she does not perform a counterattack. Bonecrusher also now places her in a guard state.
Escarlata:
Several of her moves have been renamed but keep the same effects.
Focus Energy no longer provides a stackable buff and instead inflicts the Focused state. The attack and agility boost is lower than a single cast while keeping the same critical hit rate.
Concentration -> Lotus Spirit Lotus Spirit no longer provides the stackable parameter buff and instead inflicts the Lotus state. The attack and agility boost is higher than a double cast, while the boost to defenses has been lowered to below a single cast. The sprit boost has been raised past a double cast and a new hit rate boost, counterattack boost, MP regen, and TP regen has been added. The boost to critical hit rate is unchanged. The amount of HP healed has been adjusted to the following formula:
(MaxHP - CurrentHP) / 1.25
Revive's HP formula has been changed to the following:
(Escarlata'sCurrentHP / 2) + 100
Mind's Eye: MP restoration has been reduced.
Kasai:
Take a Break's MP restoration has been reduced.
Risa:
Battle Shout no longer provides a stackable buff and instead inflicts the Battle Shout state. The attack boost is higher than a double cast while the agility buff is higher than a single cast. This was made with Risa's low speed in mind and now allows her to save a turn instead of double casting.
All characters that have a move that inflicts a state upon them can still receive the standard buffs that they normally would from spells light Might, Inflame, etc.
Quality of Life:
Many of the move descriptions have been adjusted, allowing for more flavor when reading up on what your favorite moves do for the characters. Enjoy it! Some of the music has been adjusted so that it properly loops. There are still some songs left to adjust but, many of the songs loop properly now. The sound when defeating a boss has been changed. It was too loud and the music and quotes from the characters could not be heard in some cases. Especially when a large boss was defeated.
Bug Fixes:
Several bug fixes have been made. The gamebreaking bug that occurs in Chapter 8 when going to Alhest with Melrose, Shara, and Escarlata has been fixed. The splash screen has been changed back to Chapter 9. This was a mistake on my end. Chapter 10 and much of 11 are uploaded in the game but cannot be accessed yet, so the splashscreen reflects that you can only play up to Chapter 9. A quest log bug that displayed multiple objectives has been fixed.
Closing:
And that's all! Progress on the major story update is still going! I had stopped for a moment because I got married (woohoo!) and I spent time with some family over the holiday. As I mentioned before in a previous update, chapter 10 is complete while chapter 11 is still in progress. The idea is to get chapter 11 AND 12 done within the next month or so. If I can get it to you all before the new year, I believe that would be a great holiday gift for everyone.
With that said, thank you all for continuing to support Short Adventure! Whether you've played it, came by the twitch stream, supported it through donations, followed the twitter, or spread the word, I appreciate all the support. Thank you all again and I'll see you in the next update!
