Shipolis changes
I am making good progress on the new content. But it takes a bit longer then expected because I'm actually planning to release two new regions at once instead of just one! It still needs a little more cooking in the oven, and then you will be able to explore the north and the south sectors!
However, I have accumulated a good amount of smaller additions and many improvements to polish the game experience, so I figured out I might as well release a patch today. So here is Playtest v0.4b! I hope you will enjoy these changes. As always, feel free to share your thoughts in the comments!
Also, I decided to open a Discord server to build a community around my games (yes, I've been doing game development for 6 years, released 4 games, and I'm doing this only today..). If you'd like to join to take part in my game development journey and chat with other players, I'd be happy to have you around! There, I will show more regularly what I am working on and adding to the game, so it will be a great place to share your input.
Changelog v0.4b:
Added a dropdown button to filter building options (to make it easier to navigate and find quickly what you want to build)
Added ability to rename cities
Disabling a building now frees up the workers so you can assign them elsewhere
Enabling a production is only possible if there are enough workers
Added a small icon indicator in the city menu to show which buildings employ workers (hovering the button shows the exact number of workers next to the building name)
Show keybinding on screen for some buttons that have a shortcut (e.g. back/cancel/resume)
Extended the sea to cover the whole screen and showing the map limit with a dashed line barrier. No more edge of the world!
Split a quest into two and made some reordering to introduce the production disabling earlier
- Quest pinningadded on icon that can be hovered while in menus to show the current quest in a tooltip
Added two new quests to introduce aspects that were not clear enough:
Quest to upgrade the transfers and make them faster, otherwise transfers feel painfully slow after a while
Quest to use an adjacency bonus and highlight the existence of boosting buildings + the important of placement position
Added a dropdown button in the game menu to allow to adjust the speed of the time cycle: regular = 10 s / fast = 5 s / fastest = 3 s
Tweaked the camera panning while in movement to have more of a top view
Tweaked the population display in the city menu to make the two states idle/employed clearer
Increased the production of stone in the stone quarry
Fixed export ships having the idle icon while moving
Fixed the disabled warning icon not disappearing on the city menu after deleting a building with production disabled
Fixed city areas spawning with only a single tile: cities will now always spawn with at least 3 tiles
