Shiperoids Development Plan Unity Port, Currently I am in the process of porting Shiperoids to Unity. It's a straightforward process, all the assets are already created, but it's time consuming. Once I have a 1:1 clone of it in Unity I will push out that update and then start adding features and changes to the new Unity build. Please be patient, Shiperoids is a priority for me but I also work and go to school full time so updates may not come as quickly as you want them too. New Features
Custom Controls - I want to add multiple control inputs, mouse, keyboard, custom analog dial (for full size arcade machines). Also a way to fully customize the controls to your liking.
More power-ups – Not just random bombs but guided missiles, friendly turrets, super laser, stuff like that. I would love some ideas and input on this if anyone has them.
Larger Play Field - This one is going to need some tweaking but a 1024 screen is a bit small for my taste. I don't want a scrolling universe just something with some more room to move around in.
Multiplayer – First up is local co-op/VS which is not hard at all to get working at all, but not everyone has their friend sitting next to them on the couch so online co-op and VS is a must for me. Problem is online multiplayer is hard. Doing it right and not pushing out some broken piece of garbage is really important to me so please be patient.
Modding- If it's worth it, AND people want it, I would like to add an easy way the player can mod the game. I think its great fun to put your own stuff into a game and fly around in it. Ideally I would make it super simple so you could upload your own sprites in the game itself. I think it would be lots of fun.
The biggest request I have is “Why did I bounce off the wall? I want to warp to the other side like Asteroids.” Well it's not Asteroids, it's Shiperoids, and I don't own the rights to Asteroids so that's why I made a different game. It's only inspired by classics from the 80's and not a copy of any game in particular. Also I have been legally advised to mention this - Asteroids is copyrighted by Atari 1981, and any similarities between Shiperoids and any other game living or dead is purely coincidental.
