Serpent Rising changes
Faction reveal #1: the zombie faction. This is the first playable faction out of 4 in total, to be revealed.
While named zombies, they aren't zombies in the traditional sense... but victims of radiation. As the apocalyptic war turned nuclear, some got caught in the epicenters of radioactivity, and were heavily deformed. Most died from radiation sickness, but a few who had inexplicably strong resilience against the damaging effects of radiation survived.
Not allowed into the other communities out of fear that intemixing with them would harm the genetic survival of humanity, these groups were quickly named zombies by less radiation-afflicted human survivors due to their disfigurement, as well as their secret weapon - an abnormally high fertility that somehow must have arisen due to a radiation induced mutation. Hence, forming huge hordes of fearsomely disfigured individuals, they were nicknamed zombies - and eventually accepted this title for themselves.
The zombies have a low average intelligence, speed, loyalty and strength - but make up for that by excellent resilience and fertility. They can also move at normal speed through swamps, where others are greatly slowed down. The ideal ground for zombies is marshlands afflicted by radiation, where other factions have great difficulty competing.
