Separated changes
We are here and faster than EVER!
Seeing our players unhappy with the game or frustrated isn't something we can tolerate or allow. From all the reviews we received, we concluded that many of you have trouble understanding the puzzles and their solutions with the ghost constantly on your back. Overall, the ghost is frustrating. So we decided to address these issues WITHOUT ruining the game for the players who enjoyed this tough experience.
So we did the following:
Major Changes
Significantly increased session duration across all levels.
We reduced the ghost's aggression across all levels and game modes.
Increased the time required for the ghost to enter the next aggression phase, which previously happened too quickly.
Increased the ghost's resting time after catching a player.
Added two more game modes, making a total of three, now available in the lobby:
Practice:
Learn the environment and puzzles without the ghost.
Shorter time limit, so the time factor is still there.
This doesn't unlock the next level since we want winning a level to feel like an accomplishment, a satisfying WIN. This mode is more for practice, so you can learn everything about the level and its puzzles without the headache of dealing with the ghost.
We want to hear your feedback about this mode.
Normal (The New Default Mode):
Your mic doesn't alert the ghost, so you can now describe the puzzles in detail and understand them more easily.
Hardcore (The hardcore experience intended by the game designers):
Same as Normal mode, but your mic DOES alert the ghost. For new players, deciphering the puzzles will be harder, and communicating in this mode will be tough.
Further adjusted ghost footstep sounds, making it easier to hear her and stop talking or interacting before she hears you, especially when you're on different house floors.
What's After This Update?
Based on your feedback, we will decide if designing a proper 4-level campaign puzzle-only mode is worth it. It must be engaging and fun, not a boring snooze fest.
We will analyze and readjust the ghost's behavior based on your feedback, or even change it completely if necessary. It must be fun to play against, not frustrating.
Once we decide on the things above and publish the changes, we will wait for your feedback. If all goes well, we'll start working on a new map, new puzzles, and a new monster.
Important Notes
The game is still in Early Access, and we're just getting started. Every update is driven by your feedback as we continue making the experience better.
We read every review, both negative and positive.
For the negative: we are adjusting the game based on the aspects that made you frustrated, and we hope you give it another try.
For the positive: we would like to say thank you for supporting us. The key points mentioned in your reviews are also discussed heavily and shape the future of the game.
Thanks for your support. Make sure to leave your feedback on the new update below and tell us what you want to see in Separated.
