Save the Villainess: An Otome Isekai Roleplaying Game changes
Dear Villains and Villainesses,
Greetings again from your duo of villainess devs, Tanya and Emily! We hope that April has brought you only a few rain showers, even as we look forward to May’s gorgeous flowers. In the meantime, we’re excited to celebrate Jane’s birthday with gorgeous art from Rui and a new video. We’re also pleased to share more updates with you, as well as cards sharing what our characters would give Jane for her birthday. Feel free to share some thoughts on birthday gifts for Jane yourself!
First, we want to celebrate the April 6th birthday of our amnesiac villainess, Jane.
All Jane wants for her birthday is for people to stop murdering her, but we have a few other wishes for her special day. May Jane always have shiny hair, a never-ending supply of genius and apples... and you.
After all, you're the only one who can Save the Villainess.
As a surprise for Jane’s birthday, we have a new video of her being interviewed by a very special guest… Crown Prince Edmund Alpin’s cousin, the illustrious Raymond Alpin! Want to see them banter, bicker, and perhaps do even more? Check out the video below!
This month, we programmed scenes 39 and 40. These scenes include the information for and the choices of an important mystery deduction that relies on your understanding of the “abilities” that Jane and her “companions” have shown so far.
Meanwhile, Emily also programmed a unique animated bad ending that you receive if your deduction is incorrect, as well as the continuation scene you receive if you make the correct choice. We’re continuing towards our goal of making at least 30 unique bad endings in our game!
We also reviewed and revised the next large “block” of interconnected scenes! This “block” of scenes includes Scenes 45 to 51. As this block contains several gameplay elements, romantic choices, new animated character models and sequences, and deductions, we wanted to make sure our writing was as clear and entertaining as possible.
Finally, we began exporting hundreds of Photoshop file layers and working on test programming for a very special character model that we’re going to complete next month. You’ll see an animated version of that special character in our next update.
Here’s a hint… do you know whose birthday we celebrate in May?
We had the pleasure of being a part of a celebration of crowd-funded games during Crytivo's Backed by Backers festival on Steam!
Check out the festival to see other games that are for and funded by amazing fans like yourself. We cannot thank you all enough for your support, whether you backed our kickstarter, read our emails and updates, chat on our discord, or play our demo. Every one of you helps bring Save the Villainess to life.
See you next month for more updates… and a new animated model of a Very Special Character!
