Happy New Year & Sanguine Demo Update
Happy New Year, Watchers — and thank you all for the incredible support over the past few months.
I’m excited to share that the Sanguine demo has now been updated to match the current Early Access build (v1.1.6). This update brings the demo fully up to date with all major gameplay improvements, fixes, and quality-of-life updates made between August 30th and Patch 1.1.6.
If you played the demo earlier, this version offers a much more accurate representation of where Sanguine stands today.
✨ What’s New in the Updated Demo (Aug 30 → v1.1.6)
Below are some of the most impactful changes and improvements now included in the demo:
⚔️ Combat Improvements & Knockback System
Expanded Knockback System
One of the biggest gameplay changes introduced during Early Access is the new knockback system, which is now fully represented in the demo.
Certain attacks now apply contextual knockback to enemies based on:
Weapon type
Timing and positioning
Knockback can:
Create breathing room in tight encounters
Interrupt enemy advances
Reward well-timed, riskier plays
This system was designed to:
Reduce unfair stun-lock scenarios
Make close-quarters combat feel more responsive
Add tactical decision-making without turning combat into pure action
Combined with other combat updates, encounters should now feel more readable, deliberate, and survivable, especially when managing multiple threats.
Quick 180° Turn Rework
Fully reworked Quick 180° Turn system:
Now includes a cooldown and UI indicator
Can evade enemy grab attempts if timed correctly
Fixed previous issues where perfect timing caused:
Unintended speed boosts
Clipping through collision
Animation Polish
Updated Kris’s knife attack animations to improve:
Visual clarity
Hit feedback
Overall combat flow
📦 Quality-of-Life Improvements
Added Brightness adjustment options with positive and negative thresholds, allowing players to better tune the game to their display and preferred horror experience.
Added Storage Auto Sort, allowing items to be sorted automatically in the following order: Tools → Weapons → Ammo → Meds → Crafting Items → Keys
Fixed an issue where combining ammo in storage could place items in unintended locations.
Numerous smaller UI, control, and interaction polish passes.
🔊 Audio & Presentation Updates
Improved and expanded audio across the demo, including:
Combat interactions
Storage and inventory interactions
General environmental and UI feedback
📰 UI & Menu Improvements
Added a News & Updates button to the main menu.
Players can now browse previous patches and open the full Steam patch notes directly in their default browser.
🕹️ About Survivor Stories (Early Access Only)
Survivor Stories is a separate, replayable game mode available exclusively in the Early Access version of Sanguine.
This mode is designed as a high-tension, arcade-style survival experience featuring:
Time-limited runs
Randomized objectives
Score rankings and achievements
A focus on replayability and mastery
Survivor Stories is not included in the demo, but it represents a major pillar of the full Early Access experience for players looking for repeatable challenge outside the main story.
🧠 A Better First Impression
This demo update is intended to give players a much clearer and more honest look at Sanguine today, reflecting months of iteration, feedback, and polish since late summer.
If you tried the demo back in August or September, I highly recommend giving it another run.

Thank you again for being part of Sanguine’s journey. Your support and feedback truly shape the game.
Here’s to a great year ahead.
