Rusted Moss changes
I'm happysquared, one of the developers of Rusted Moss, here to give some news. Well, more of an announcement of an announcement (people definitely love those right? /s)
So here it is:
We are currently working on a spiritual successor to Rusted Moss!
(stay tuned more more details we'll share sometime this year)
We've added two new members to our team: Hokori (who is also the mod of our discord) and Riuku (he worked on the Rusted Moss level editor and has a game of his own: Ants Took My Eyeball)
That's all the information I'm going to share at this point so hopefully the actual official announcement will answer any other questions you might have.
You can stop reading if you're just interested in Rusted Moss related stuff!
Okay, if you're still reading up to this point, I'll just go ahead and also let you know about some other projects we've been working on.
Emlise (she's also one of Rusted Moss' devs) has released a super cool browser game! It is free to play!
If you enjoyed her level design in Rusted Moss, it is basically a MUST PLAY (also as usual, isn't her art super cute?):

As for what I've been working on, I've just released my First Game! How is this possible? Well, before Rusted Moss, I was just starting on my game dev journey and put my game on hiatus in order to work on Rusted Moss.
That game has finally been released:
Steam Link: After School Afterlife
(I worked on it with Sunnydaze, Hokori, and Riuku.)
I was a bit hesitant to share my project. I wasn't sure if the Rusted Moss audience would be super interested in it and it is a less serious project but Emlise (who helped playtest) encouraged me to so...
A little about the game:
I told my brother we were expecting to sell 10 copies
My brother called the game extremely dumb (not derogatory)
I put so much soul into it that you can basically call me Dorian Gray (it will reflect any sin I commit, any stain on my soul)
Actual information about the game:
It's a casual puzzle platformer where the platforms move to the beat of the music
It has various minigames outside of the platforming sections that revolve around making friends with quirky ghosts (we were inspired by a game called Ham Ham Heartbreak)
It has similarities to "dream exploration" type games where a lot of it is wandering around and seeing strange environments
Its setting is based around Singaporean culture and takes place within a haunted Peranakan mansion created by a witch who wanted to create an alternate afterlife
Sunnydaze (composer of Rusted Moss and my sister) did the music
It is English only (Sorry! It was a non-commercial project and a lot of its purpose was also for me to start learning programming so we didn't have the scope to do much more.)
It started off as a game jam game and it was a chance for Sunnydaze and myself to introduce our local culture to others so if any of that sounds appealing, you might be interested!
Thanks so much for supporting us and it is because of the unexpected reception to Rusted Moss that we were encouraged to do work on a spiritual successor!
We'll post updates on Rusted Moss' steam page with an official announcement when we're ready but also feel free to join our discord and keep in touch.
Hope you all have a nice year!
