RUBATO v1.2 delayed to June 29th

I need more time because... I decided I want to also edit scenes from The City onwards, so with this update the plot of the entire game will be adjusted.

addedEDIT (06/26/2026): I've split this update into twoRewritten script across the entire game. Ranges from subtle rephrasing to complete scene rewrites. I've kept some of people's favourite lines in, but pretty much almost every cutscene has completely new text.

EDIT (06/26/2026): I've split this update into two

The second update will cover the end of Area 4, Area 5 and the ending. My plan for this has ballooned like crazy and there is no way I'm rushing this in 2 weeks lol

V1.2 has:

  • Rewritten Area 2

  • Completely new Area 3 intro

  • Rewritten script across the entire game. Ranges from subtle rephrasing to complete scene rewrites. I've kept some of people's favourite lines in, but pretty much almost every cutscene has completely new text.

  • Reduced/removed scenes across the ENTIRE game.

  • Reduced gags across the ENTIRE game. (This is seriously less extreme than everyone thinks it is lol)

V 1.3 will have:

  • Revamped 4.5. I'll be keeping the good parts, but I don't really feel like I got the point I wanted to across in this too well... I want to focus this section more on Rubato. And I also figured out how to make it not a 1 hour long visual novel, without also being annoying.

DCONN FUN FACT: Did you know this entire section of the game was actually written and developed back to back within the space of 11 weeks? Most of the game's development was actually spent on The City, because my PC took an hour to compile the game. Now it only takes 5 minutes! Yay!

  • The ending has been slightly rewritten. This is also what I'm delaying the game for. This isn't super major, but there's some pretty major ass-pulls that I don't really like that are at least removable.

  • Removing immersion breaking elements of the game. So anything considered 'meta'. Really this is more me rewriting the end of Area 4, but I feel like it's worth a mention here.

  • 1.3 will also have plenty of level design and gameplay adjustments. I want to force you to use the items more and I also want slightly more clarity in the layout of areas. I won't be adding new subareas unfortunately, but I might slightly rearrange things and see if I can make some of the nothing burger Planet Bits more interesting.

See you soon and sorry for the delay!
