I am back with yet another feature update for Rocket Cave Adventure. This update includes the base work for the first boss, some changes to how the skill tree and your weapons work. There are also a few new objects added!

Features:

  • Added a boss encounter on the 5th floor

  • Added entity: Boss - Giant Skull

  • Reworked skill: [Lasershot] - now, this skill can be fired instantly without a warmup. The projectile lasts until it hits something and has a gravity component.

  • Reworked skill: [Auto Turret] - now, this skill has a warmup

  • Added skill: [Lasershot - Kill trigger] - On enemy kill, there's a % chance to get +1 charge for [Lasershot]

  • Added skill: [Level up - Cooldown reset] - On level up, +1 charge for all skills

  • Added entity: Heart - On pickup, gain +1 health. % chance to be found in chests

  • Added entity: Gold ore - This ore spawns on the ceiling of most levels, break it to gain some gold

  • Added entity: Skull - break this object for a chance at gold

  • Now when a flying skull is killed, they turn into a breakable skull

  • In between levels, if you have a skill point, a random skill is chosen from the skill tree to unlock. You no longer have a choice in what skill unlocks. This was done to speed up the time in between levels.

  • You can no longer unlock, upgrade, or reroll skills during a floor. You must wait for in-between floors.

  • Added a selector in the skill tree to show what skill is currently being viewed

Balance changes:

  • All skills cost more to upgrade - the player used to have too much excess gold

  • Slightly changed the way player health is displayed

Bugs fixed:

  • The skill tree did not appear correctly when initially appearing

This version of the game is a release version as opposed to a dev version. This means the game should load faster and run smoother. Please leave all feedback in the Community hub of this game or in the official Subreddit or Discord!
