Managing a business isn't just about stocking shelves, selling fuel, or waiting for customers at the register. Just like in the real world, everything around you constantly changes: customer habits, market conditions, your service quality, the weather…
And in Rest Area Simulator, we wanted to capture that sense of vitality. In short, we didn’t just want to create a game — we aimed to build a living system.
📊 Dynamic Economy System
The purchase prices of the products you sell aren't fixed. They fluctuate based on external developments, virtual unit prices, and the supply-demand balance. So, what does this mean for you?
If you keep prices high for several days, your customers might buy less. • Selling at a loss? Customers will be happy, but your business growth slows down. • Buying in bulk may shift the supply-demand balance. Sometimes it pays off — other times it's risky.
📌 So prices are no longer just numbers — they’re strategic decision points. And it’s not limited to these examples; competitive conditions and customer behavior trends are among many other factors that shape the economy.
⭐ Reputation System: Leave Your Mark on the World
Every service you provide leaves a mark on the world. Our reputation system tracks the quality of your businesses and your personal standing:
Product variety • Cleanliness and hygiene • Security level • Product quality • Service speed
In addition to all these, many other small and large factors we won’t fully reveal directly affect your reputation score. The higher your reputation, the more customers will choose you.
🧠 NPC Behavior Systems
Customers don’t just go “arrive–buy–pay–leave.” Each one comes to your facility by car or metro with different purposes. They might stop by just to relax, withdraw money, or explore the area.
Not everyone has to be your customer. • Some might leave without visiting any business. • Every customer has different needs and preferences.
Some customers may buy many products, others may care only about quality. Some decide solely based on their mood at that moment. 📌 These behavioral variations make the system more unpredictable and natural.
🎲 Surprise Events
No two days are the same. Some days you may face unexpected developments:
A global crisis → fuel prices skyrocket • Your pump systems may malfunction • A wholesaler may go bankrupt → for example, bread prices increase • A new wholesaler enters the market → for example, chocolate prices drop
The decisions you make in response to these events will determine your success or failure. 📌 Those who seize opportunities win; those who panic may lose.
And these events aren't limited to predefined scenarios — thanks to our dynamic system structure, a much wider range of surprise events can be introduced in the future.
🌦️ Weather and Time Cycle
Time never stands still in the world of RAS. The sun rises, sets, the rain falls, clouds gather, the wind calms…
And it’s not just a visual detail. Weather and time directly impact gameplay:
Demand for the car wash may drop on rainy days. • Weather events like storms may cause power outages — which affects customer satisfaction. • In the evening, you may encounter more impatient or shopping-inclined customer types.
Beyond these examples, more advanced systems like NPC routines shaped by the day-night cycle will also be part of the game.
🔁 All Systems Are Interconnected
And this is the real game-changer. These systems don’t operate in isolation — they directly interact with one another.
For example: • It rains → fewer car wash customers • Income drops → you can’t order new products • Market shelves empty → customer satisfaction declines • Your reputation falls → customer traffic decreases • The loop grows stronger and continues
And that’s just one possible chain of events. Throughout the gameplay, billions of different systemic combinations may occur — and each one offers a unique experience for every player. (For the curious: The theoretical number of combinations can go up to 10⁹⁸.)
🎮 A Living Game
That’s why we consider these systems to be “the heart of the game.” Rest Area Simulator is shaped not only by what you do, but when, how, and under what conditions you do it — offering a living, breathing experience.
