Reality Break changes
Hi all!
The 2026 Summer Sale is on, and we will be releasing a new hotfix for Reality Break. It addresses quite a few small bugs, and importantly, upgrades the Reality Break codebase to Unity 6 for modernization and future-proofing. For now, it will be available on the beta branch, but you can check out the patch notes below.
Work continues on the Ship Types DLC as well, which will be released later this year and have its own small post-launch roadmap.
~Courtney and Sarah
P.S. If you'd like to get a sneak peek at the Ship Action for the previously revealed Void Saber ship, subscribe to our mailing list! We'll be sharing some info on the Shredder Drones, and maybe a few other tidbits...
Reality Break hotfix v1.1.2.2 has gone live as build 0960 on the beta branch.
Dev notes: There are a couple of recent bugs we thought were worthy of a hotfix and decided to use this as an opportunity to lay some important groundwork for the DLC release as well. This release will be starting on the beta branch to ensure stability before release to the Default Public branch.
Major Change: The Reality Break project has been upgraded to Unity 6.3. (Courtney's note: this is the main reason we're putting the hotfix into beta first)
Performance
Implemented caching for potential AP gain from Ascension talents so that hovering over them doesn't hit the drive repeatedly to load other pilots. (Courtney's note: particularly slow on HDD, but even SSDs were feeling this.)
Stability
Bulletproofed against Talent button being null in certain edge cases when attempting to purchase.
Addressed soft progression blocker encountered when using a jump gate to warp from one mission directly to another when both missions were on the same map.
Balance
Chaos Vortex achievement requirement has been reduced from lasting 8 minutes to lasting 3 minutes to account for the recent Chaos Vortex redesign. (Sarah's note: we plan to change the criteria to enemies destroyed rather than survival time in the future, but this change will make the achievement more accessible again in the meantime.)
Quality of Life
Reserve "you have RP" popup reminder for actual Talents, not other things that are secretly talents under the hood but don't make sense for the reminder (e.g., triggering Ascension).
Bug fixes
fixed projectile consolidation system resulting in a 0x core multiplier with certain low-level gear, causing zero damage dealt (Courtney's note: this was causing certain projectile weapons, e.g. launchers and swarmers, to deal zero damage)
fixed Survival mission sometimes spawning its attack waves outside of the target mission map
fixed borderless fullscreen setting not sticking when changing from fullscreen
fixed delayed enemy explosions blinking out immediately in some cases, such as elite destructions
fixed Loot Filter button text word wrapping with certain localized strings
fixed Eye of Oblivion drone visuals occasionally flickering
fixed AsteroidRare and InfestedAsteroid containing extraneous entity component that could lead to weirdness in certain cases
fixed Rakeris ships not being lit properly in the Chaos Vortex
fixed visual artifacts with Rakeris Shrikes that were despawned into the object pool while cloaked
fixed projectile consolidation cooldown rate calculation that was causing overly high rates of fire
fixed percent symbols appearing in Gold Plating subtalent descriptions
fixed overly high baseline Launcher missile explosion physics impulse strength
fixed various bugs with dropdown lists, such as scrolling using the mouse wheel as well as dragging the scroll bar
fixed generic warship explosion small bursts continuing for too long (Courtney's note: also gave Colossus warship its own explosion fx while I was at it)
fixed abandoning the recently redesigned Chaos Vortex leaving your pilot in a playable un-Fractured state if no enemies had been destroyed first
fixed up a bunch of things introduced by the Unity 6 upgrade so that players will never see them!
