Repeated intro

Hello everyone, long time no see! It’s been a while since I first dropped my Public Test Demo for PURE FUCKING RAGE and I just wanted to come back and say that yes, the game is still in development and that there’s been some huge changes coming to the game. I am very sorry for taking this long to make a dev post, but I’ve been busy with a whole bunch of IRL stuff such as having a new job to support the game financially.

addedHello everyone, long time no see! It’s been a while since I first dropped my Public Test Demo for PURE FUCKING RAGE and I just wanted to come back and say that yes, the game is still in development and that there’s been some huge changes coming to the game. I am very sorry for taking this long to make a dev post, but I’ve been busy with a whole bunch of IRL stuff such as having a new job to support the game financially.
changedI am very happy with the progress of the game and all that I was able to achieve with the PTD builds. The reaction to the game was very good, even if it was just a few people who had come by to give it a try. I am taking all criticisms I got from the PTD and using it to upgrade the game for the better.
addedI have also wanted to come out and say that PURE FUCKING RAGE is being remade in a new engine! This of course means no more updates to the current test demo builds as those are now considered outdated. I will go into more detail down below.
addedWhat is the new game engine?
addedI originally used Unreal Engine 5 to build PFR’s alpha and subsequent public test demos. Going forward I am switching the games engine to Godot! Why the game engine switch? I find Godot more flexible and easier to work with compared to UE5. While UE5 is a great engine in its own right, I personally have found myself growing tired of using it for the last decade, even when I was using UE4. UE5 can be an optimization and coding nightmare for me personally, so might as well switch over to a new engine before I go all out with PFR. How long will it be before we see another build?
changedA pretty long time. I don’t have an ETA as for when another build of PFR is going to come out as it may be within the next year or literal years from now, it just depends on how much I am able to do. I will say I kinda was overzealous with releasing PFR’s public test demos. I mostly wanted to get the game out for people to try and to see what could be improved. I did learn a lot of the demo and was pleased to see people enjoyed the game! I also found a bunch of issues I’m going to work on resolving with the PFR remake as well. But all in all for the remake, I’d like to leave it in the oven for a little while longer before I drop any public builds.

Will the current Demos out now be taken down? No. Those will remain up for the foreseeable future on IndieDB. Despite these being outdated forms of the game, I still want people to be able to try it out and to give feedback for PFR’s remake! Be sure to come yell at me about what you’d like to see or if you simply want to scream criticisms in my face, either one works! What will change in the remake? Fundamentally, the game will stay the same. You will still kill enemies, collect their blood and amass a large arsenal of weapons and skills. However, I am planning to add a full fledged story to the game beyond what I originally had planned and I also plan to add more game modes beyond the Arena mode that was in the game. I won’t reveal what I have planned as I will make separate update posts for these! Although I won’t share much, I can share this little WIP Concept Art of the Darkossers (Player Character) brand new design coming to the game!

I decided that the original design of a monster trying to imitate a human look was kinda weird so I changed it up a bit in the remake! It also aligns the Darkosser more with the Blood Imp design too!

Will there still be Dev posts and public updates made about the game.

Yes, but very sporadic in the releases. I still plan to do those as well. Although PFR has little to no community, I still want to show off what’s being done with the game to everybody who just happens to come across this page. Expect plenty more in depth posts where I yap for an hour about some dumb development shit like breakable tables or enemies being able to walk around lmfao That’s all I really have for this update. I just wanted to notify people that I am still working on this game and am currently remaking it. It will take a while to do so expect a while for more info to come! I appreciate anybody who sticks around to check on this game's progress! See you all in the next dev update - Daniel
