Actual News

Hi, Cadence here. It’s been a little while since the last newsletter; mostly we ran out of interesting topics to write at length about, so how about some actual news in our newsletter for a change?

changedRENREN has been hard at work finishing the soundtrack (now over an hour in length) and all of the game’s sounds. Because Pronoun Palace has so many characters with distinct voices, a fun element of the sound design has been reaching out to our friends and asking them to make noises into a microphone for us; our small little indie game has immortalized the voices of over twenty people.

First off, I’d just like to share another song from the game: Headline.

Pronoun Palace is very close to completion. Almost everything in the game that needs drawing and writing and programming has been drawn and written and programmed. The remaining work is primarily: Drawing the final boss, writing the last few cutscenes, and polishing up a number of animations.

With everything important cleared up, how about some more specific progress? We finally finished implementing all of the enemy shadows this week; the main issue with designing a shadow for the Cat enemy is just that it’s too simple to subvert in any meaningful way, so we opted to go all in on flavor. “Unnamed” is a declawed cat with a harmless swipe attack and a stronger bite. Nobody ever bothered to name the poor kitty, so it assumes the first word you hit it with is its name.

Also, I have to show some off *some* of the insane fanart our friends have drawn of the game. There is just too much. I legitimately don’t know why we didn’t do this before?

That’s all for today. The next time you hear from us, it’ll probably be about a trailer!
