Happy New Year, Survivors!

As we step into 2026, we are thrilled to share the future of Project DINOZ. Our goal for this year is to increase the frequency of content while deepening the survival horror mechanics that keep you on the edge of your seat.

Next Up: Incident Log

On January 25th, the forest becomes a death trap. This Incident Log features a deadly encounter with a pack of Allosaurus. These predators hunt with terrifying coordination—you aren't just being tracked; you're being herded.

To survive the pack, you’ll need to master our new stealth features:

  • The Peek Mechanic: You can now lean and peek around corners or cover. This allows you to scout the pack’s positions without fully exposing yourself to a charge.

  • Stealth Refinement: With the Allosaurus's keen senses, every movement counts. Use the environment to stay out of their collective line of sight.

New Systems & Utility Items

We are evolving how you survive through a brand-new Crafting System. Scavenge the environment for materials to create life-saving utility items:

  • The Smoke Bomb (Coming Jan 25th): Specifically designed for this update, the Smoke Bomb is your best friend when the pack corners you. Deploy it to break their line of sight and vanish.

  • The Noisemaker (Retroactive Update): We have slightly redesigned the Velociraptor Incident level to introduce this tool. Use it to lure predators away from your path or lead them into a distraction.

Technical Overhaul & Improvements

Behind the scenes, Project DINOZ has undergone a massive technical transformation:

  • C++ Transition: We have migrated the codebase from Blueprints to C++. This provides a smoother experience and a noticeable performance boost across the board.

  • Modular Level Design: We are moving to a modular workflow for interiors, ensuring more consistent, high-quality environments.

  • Enhanced AI & AnimationsSignificant polish has been added to dinosaur behaviors and player movement to make every encounter feel more visceral.
  • Major Bug FixesWe’ve eliminated the keypad code glitch, fixed dinosaurs grabbing players through thin walls, and resolved the map-loading issues on the second level of the Raptor Incident.

Long-Term Goal: Survivor Mode

While the monthly Incident Logs focus on narrative encounters, we know you want more ways to play. We are excited to announce that we are targeting the release of Survivor Mode toward the end of the first half of the year (June/July 2026).

This mode will be a true test of your skills, forcing you to utilize the crafting and utility systems to their fullest potential in a more open-ended, high-stakes environment.

Final Note: We are also working on a full Audio Track Redesign, currently slated for the February update, to further immerse you in the horror.

Thank you for your continued support as we build the ultimate dinosaur horror experience. See you in the habitat on January 25th.
