With the release date announced for Primal Carnage: Evolution on PlayStation, we thought it would be a good time for a refresher about what this means for PCE on PC.

Same Game, Different Name?

Extinction on PC isn't going anywhere, it's evolving.

Some of you already know the details, but with so many comments about "is this coming to Steam?" being posted lately, here we go again!

This summer, everyone who owns Primal Carnage: Extinction on Steam will automatically be "upgraded" to Primal Carnage: Extinction - Evolved Edition when update 3.5 arrives.

Just to make things totally clear:

  • PC players don't need to buy anything

  • It's not a separate game on Steam

  • Evolution is the title of our new console version

We're incredibly thankful to the PC community who has stuck with us all these years, not only playing our game but supporting the development of new dinosaurs, items, maps and more. With that in mind, we are rewarding all of you with the new Evolution content for FREE.

We were unable to update the original Primal Carnage: Extinction on PlayStation, as it is under a different publisher who didn't have much interest in continuing with it (the old port has not been touched since 2017).

This is what led to Primal Carnage: Evolution for console, it was the only way we could bring the many years of updates we've made to PCE on PC over to the PlayStation audience. We're sorry for any confusion this may have caused. Rest assured, you're not going to miss out if you only have Steam.

And if for some strange reason you'd like to keep playing the original Extinction game on PS4, that's not going anywhere either. It will remain playable in its fossilized state, a time capsule from a bygone era.

NOTE: If you are a PlayStation player, you do NOT need to own Extinction (PS4) to get Evolution.

Open Testing Sandbox Beta

Everyone who has PCE on PC should also have access to the Open Testing app on Steam.

Next weekend we aim to release the first Sandbox beta patch with new features such as the playable Stego, Iguanodon and Parasaur. These will be work in progress initially, fleshed out in the coming weeks.

We're hoping to quickly get updates out to the beta with more features, such as Skillshots, which reward special kills with bonus points!

The collectable intel documents will also be added next month. There are over 200 different entries adding a rich background lore to the game. Steam post imageKeep an eye out for the beta release announcement soon, which will go into the other new mechanics and additions coming to PCE on PC this summer.

That's right! If you've somehow not jumped into the Carnage yet, or have friends that may be interested in human hunting / dino slaying, we've got 90% OFF Primal Carnage Extinction until May 31st!

All of the cosmetic DLC packs on the Steam store are also half price during this Jurassic-sized sale.

Thanks for playing!
