addedThe long-awaited v0.2 update is finally here. Presenting, the first iteration of Presto! 's sound track, plus so much more. Firstly, I want to thank everyone actively waiting for this update for their patience. The implementation of the game's audio extended beyond simply having some music and sound effects, we really wanted this to enhance the experience and bring through the true vision of what Presto! can be as much as we possibly could at this stage of dvelopment! The game's being worked on solely by me, and our composer, so high quality work takes time, especially when it's all handcrafted by humans with no reliance on AI. Composed by my close friend, the music adds a whole new layer of magic and wonder to the game that breathes new life into the game's world. The sound effects are delicately crafted with a fun, musical touch which makes playing the game feel that much more immersive. Now, all of the music and sound effects are just first drafts as this is still an early build of the game, but it does showcase what we envision for the final experience. Note that some sound effects are still placeholder and the playtest demo will be patched with improved ones over time. Alongside the added audio also comes a plethora of gameplay, visual, and functional updates, as well as some bug fixes. Developed over a few months there are too many to name, so I'll give you the TL;DR list below. Thanks again for everyone's continued support and appreciation of Presto! We're excited to see where the game goes now as it enters its next phase of development and marketing, so be sure to join our socials and discord to stay on top of everything Presto! Core Updates:
addedNew music, featuring 5 original tracks that have catchy melodies and a unique soundfont specifically designed for Presto! Enjoy listening to the exciting main title theme, a boppin' menu theme, a groovy tutorial theme, a magical theme for Dreamy Castles, and a serene, ethereal track for the end-of-level rankings
addedNew sound effects, giving life to the game's visuals, events, and menus. Bouncing around with Presto's Rolling Globe and collecting stars has never felt more fun than it does now
changedText Localization for Italian and Poruguese-Brazilian, with more languages to come in the future
addedNew and improved end-of-level results sequence, synchronised to the new music making it all the more rewarding for getting the highest score possible
addedAdded a "Restart Level" option in the Pause Menu, so you can now grind for the 'P' rank a lot more efficiently

  • New music, featuring 5 original tracks that have catchy melodies and a unique soundfont specifically designed for Presto! Enjoy listening to the exciting main title theme, a boppin' menu theme, a groovy tutorial theme, a magical theme for Dreamy Castles, and a serene, ethereal track for the end-of-level rankings

  • New sound effects, giving life to the game's visuals, events, and menus. Bouncing around with Presto's Rolling Globe and collecting stars has never felt more fun than it does now

  • Intro Title cutscene, timed to the main title track gives Presto the intro he truly deserves

  • Text Localization for Italian and Poruguese-Brazilian, with more languages to come in the future

  • New and improved end-of-level results sequence, synchronised to the new music making it all the more rewarding for getting the highest score possible

  • Added a "Restart Level" option in the Pause Menu, so you can now grind for the 'P' rank a lot more efficiently

  • Presto himself has some new animations, a slightly updated look, and has had his older animations polished up (he finally blinks and moves his eyes, wow)

  • Improved "Automatic Camera Recentering" option in the Gameplay Options menu, which now allows for complete camera control when disabled - Recommended to be ON for controllers, and OFF for Mouse & Keyboard users

  • Dreamy Castles level has some minor updated level design and item placement

  • Accessibility Features in the form of a Tinnitus Filter, to allow for listening to the game's audio in a softer form

  • Credits to view from the title screen menu

  • Various other minor gameplay improvements

Fixed Things:

  • Inconsistencies of physics and movement between different framerates

  • Buggy-looking loading transitions, they now appear a lot more stable and smooth

  • Some buggy condition-checking logic for the Tutorial Level

  • Presto sometimes being stuck in his falling animation for a short while after landing

  • Presto sometimes sinking into the ground

  • Some intense overheard during the Goal Tent appearing cutscene

  • Pausing during cutscenes (now disabled)

  • Added grace period for input directly after pausing, so you don't accidentally move up/down through the Pause Menu right after you press pause

  • Improved Enemy AI logic

Note:

Thanks again to everyone that provided feedback thus far. This is going to be the last major update planned for the Playtest here on Steam until the game's eventual final release. The rest of the game has already begun development, and it's stirring up to be something incredible. Again, we're active on our socials and discord in case you want to stay in the loop, follow development, and help us grow our community. Presto! is a game made for fans of platformers, collectathons, 90's low-poly nostalgia, and pure video game experiences, and if you want to be a part of shaping this game then don't miss out!

All the best,

-Yan Circus Cat Studios
