The year 2008 was declared the International Year of the Potato by the United Nations. For 366 glorious days, the world basked in the starchy splendor of our kind. Things haven't been the same since.
One day we will again receive the recognition we are due -- but until then, we have National Potato Day every August 19th. Get 'em while they're hot, folks.
