Dear Reader,

I am happy to announce that Postal Strike has left Early Access and has released in 1.0! It's been a wild ride... I knew nothing about pixel art or coding when I started on this game. The GdQuest coding tutorial and a quick play on Aseprite convinced me to give it a go.... and here we are.

The game will go on sale with 25% off in the Spring Sale (that was the next time I could schedule a discount), but hopefully you agree the price is fair.

My last post covers this, but during Early Access I've added:

  • 11 new enemies (for a total of 20 varieties)

  • 5 extra letters (for a total of 26)

  • 15 extra food items (for a total of 43)

  • Enemy hordes that spawn

  • LOADS of balancing

  • LOADS of bugfixing

  • A few spelling corrections

  • 3 new music tracks

  • And more!

In the 1.0 update I've finally added ITEMS to the game. Here are the full patch notes, but the headline is that I've added 6 items that dead enemies can drop including:

  • A magnet that sucks up nearby XP

  • Sticky tape that freezes enemies

  • A bomb that damages nearby enemies

  • Coffee that gives the player a quick speed boost

  • A shield that gives the player temporary invincibiltiy

  • Sweets that give the player a firerate boost

  • Each item has had a unique sound added for it

  • Pigeons now have a chance to drop xp or items when they fly overhead

  • Items and weapons have been rebalanced across the board

  • Over 30 bugfixes including stopping enemies from despawning and the Large Letter from firing incorrectly.

Thank you again for your support for my silly little game. I really appreciate it and it's made me more confident to continue my game making journey. Signed, sealed and delivered.

Warmest thanks, Jimmy
