POCKET MYSTERY EP DX changes
POCKET MYSTERY EP DX 2.0 is now live!
This update started as a way to start learning more Godot as well as interfacing with more elements of Steamworks. It also served as a way to teasing out more weird stuff that'll makes it way into the (long gestating, but finally back-in-development) remake.
This probably won't wildly change your opinion of the game, and that's okay - but it attempts to make it more playable on different hardware (this was test a fair bit on Steamdeck) and improve the presentation a bit beyond a simple .ROM file emulated in a NodeJS app.
Somethings didn't ultimately make the cut (such as remappable controls), but a variety of things have been tweaked, and there's additional content too.
What's New
Converted the emulation to GodotBoy
Password System for unlocking hidden content (visual filters, backgrounds, a short interactive fiction piece made almost entirely with a GameBoy Camera and GB Studio, and perhaps more...)
A new room has opened in the hotel... it has some secrets of it's own.
Steam Achievements
Inclusion of the original POCKET MYSTERY EP (released in late 2023)
Fixes/Improvements
Fixed some kernel panic issues in the .ROM file
(Hopefully) addressed some soft-locking around puzzle progression
Cleaned up some cutscenes in game
Improved gamepad and Steamdeck support
As a reminder: your existing save data will not carry over to version 2.0. Updating the .ROM file means the emulator is essentially seeing a different game than before, so the save data isn't compatible.
Additionally, while Linux is now supported, the game has only been tested on a Steamdeck with SteamOS, we cannot confirm how it works on other Linux operating systems.
Annnnnnnd one final note: Not all of the passwords are found in the game itself. We'd recommend taking a look at our social media, and other content we've posted, to find more hints.
With all that, [c] RELAX [/c] and enjoy!
