✈️ Hey, Future Pilots!

Today we want to take you behind the scenes and show you one of our favorite aircraft in Pocket Flight - Driftwing. This one was designed with a very specific feeling in mind.

Not speed. Not power. But flow.

🧵 From Wireframe to Sky

Every plane in Pocket Flight starts as a simple shape.

When we look at Driftwing in wireframe mode, we’re not thinking about colors yet. We’re looking at balance. Proportions. How clean the silhouette feels from a distance. How the wings stretch out just enough to communicate stability.

When we crossfade from the mesh to the finished aircraft, you can really see what we care about: a strong canopy shape, bold contrast, and a design that stays readable against bright skies and snowy biomes alike.

🎮 How Driftwing Feels

Driftwing was built for smooth, confident turns. It’s the plane you pick when you want to:

  • glide wide through mountain valleys

  • make gentle corrections without oversteering

  • keep momentum without fighting the controls

We spent a lot of time tweaking its flight profile to find that sweet spot between responsiveness and calm stability.

⚙️ Tuning the Personality

This is where the real magic happens. Behind the scenes, Driftwing’s identity lives in its stats:

  • acceleration and deceleration

  • roll speed

  • turn authority

  • max speed balance

  • low-speed behavior

Small number changes can completely transform how a plane feels in the air. A tiny bump in roll speed makes turns sharper. A softer deceleration makes gliding feel smoother.

We test. We tweak. We fly again. Until it feels right ✅

🌤️ What’s Next?

We’re continuing to refine how each aircraft communicates its personality - not just through stats, but also through sound design and subtle feedback in the air.
