Plug Priority changes
Sorry for the long time without updates. I've admittedly not been focusing super hard on the game for the past while, mainly because something big's been bugging me. What even is the point of this game? What makes it fun?
I've been doing some pondering on this front for quite a while. The whole point and whole plan of this game was just to plug plugs into holes and connect voices from A to B, and while that's great fun for a short 3-5 minute game jam game with only two voice actors, it'd get rather repetitive and boring for a full game.
For that reason I've decided to hold back on signing up to any events like Next Fest for the time being until the game is in a better state. I've seen the current state of the VR industry as a whole and the absolute lack of actually interesting, unique gameplay. As the game is right now, any bozo with some Unity know-how and UdonSharp could recreate the entire game in an afternoon for VRChat for free.
I've at least been working on bringing up some of the assets up to a higher fidelity to further remove the game from its pixel art-esque game jam roots, and they do look rather nice!
So what does this mean?
For those skipping ahead, this means the following changes will be coming to the game in the near future (hopefully).
The games graphics will receive a high-quality overhaul soon
Some of the games assets will be remade soon
We're cutting audible voice-lines and replacing them with textboxes, as getting hundreds of unique lines voiced on a budget of $0 is... unrealistic
Hopefully more interactivity. The world right now just feels so static, boring and frozen. It needs some life!
For those that've made it this far, here's a little image of Mandy cooking some soup.
