Repeated intro
Hey, all! It's been a while since I posted, with holidays and what not. Now that I can focus, I've considered the state of the game. Obviously it's not great. There are many issues, both bugs, and design choices. Several reports have said the same things as to what the gameplay is and involves. With that said, I have fully scrapped the project and have begun reworking it from the ground up. Buuut, I'm not just remaking the game. I'm fully changing it. It'll look similar, but play very differently.
Here's the plan
I've heard that the game has no purpose and with no goal, it feels pointless to progress. So, I'm working on two ways to fix that. Two game modes. To preface it, I'm changing the store functions from being open or closed at any time, to a fixed open / close time. The store will not be open overnight. Instead, you choose when to press the open button, and time will begin (starting at 7 AM) and will not stop until 10PM (times may change). At the end of the day, after all the customers are gone, you'll receive a run down of how you did, your profits, etc.
The first game mode
Story Mode, will contain a story and the game play will be centered around that. There will be characters you can interact with and learn about. There will be goals to reach for certain events, or to progress the story. This is meant to be a more casual and slower paced game than the next mode. The second game mode will have a name... As of right now, I'm thinking Wildcard Mode. In it, things function similarly, but instead of focusing on a story, you'll gain effects to the store. At the end of each day, you'll be presented with a few options that affect aspects of the store. This can range from cost changes, to negating certain items, or shelving units allowing more or less capacity, so if you get the negative option, you can't stock as much onto a single shelf. This mode is meant to be a hectic, anything goes mode where you push the store as far as you can. Ontop of all of these changes, I'm simplifying aspects as much as possible. No more 30 minute tutorial that is just text. Instead, it will be given through events and the story. There may even be more buildings to enter as well as new methods of making cash! Finally, I'm also adding controller support. I think this game would be fun on controller as well. Hopefully you'll stick around and check out version 2.0 when it comes out! As it's a hefty rework, I'm not sure on the time table, but I'm working as hard as I can! Let me know any feedback on these ideas and any other ideas you have for the game! Now's the time to get something implemented, if I'm able and can do it!
