Pierrot à la Mode changes
I'm finally here with that promised extension on the Perfect Ending! Much later than I had hoped, but finishing Gas Station Story took priority (and recovering afterwards, it really burnt me out). I've been wanting to get this bit of story written out and inserted into the Gas Station Story -adjacent universe for a while now, as it ties a lot of things together and sets the foundation for the future, and now it's here for you to enjoy!
Alongside Gas Station Story's new Anniversary Update comes a refresh for Pierrot à la Mode. I've modified some small things to better match the style of GSS (mostly just changing the dialogue boxes outline + continuation arrow), as well as fixed some dialogues to read a little bit more clearly.
As for that new ending... Before, if you managed to get a perfect score across the entire game, you'd see the Cashier Clown and the New Guy get sucked into the Q Boy. Now, you'll get to see what happens to them IN the Q Boy during that ending, with a neat scene that explicitly ties the ending into Gas Station Story, and a post-credit scene that ties both games into my next project... I've been thinking about spinning this tale about the Wizard of Elyris into its own title, but I think leaving it vague and mysterious is more effective while I work on the next chapter of the story. Don't worry, I promise all will be revealed in time, but for now... This is the most I'm going to show you of what happened before GSS!
(and for eagle-eyed viewers of the new GSS trailer, you might even see a clip of this new ending)
All of that said, I do want to apologize for locking this content behind a perfect run. Hopefully a talented player will record it and upload online for all to see, but if not... Well, it is thematically appropriate given the dystopian setting our characters are in, no?
Beyond the new content and style updates, I've also updated Pierrot à la Mode to better handle controller input. You should now be able to play the entire game without touching a keyboard, mouse, or touchscreen (for the most part)! The game also runs on Linux now, as I found and fixed a bug that completely prevented it from running.
Patch notes are at the bottom, and make sure to check out Gas Station Story's new update as well. Next time you see me on this page, I'll be announcing a new project! Thanks for reading :)
Love,
Enzi
