An important and highly-requested feature

The mini-map is a pretty straightforward feature as you can see in this WIP screenshot:

If you click on it to move the camera, it will focus at this exact point. At this very moment, the colors are still being worked on to ensure that the mini-map is as readable as possible when it will be deployed. Furthermore, we added two buttons to the mini-map:

  • One to display the grid

  • The other one is to enable/disable the flat mode.

Both of them already had their own shortcuts (the ‘ G ’ and the ‘ F ’ respectively) implemented in-game but we thought it would be a neat addition to the mini-map.

Other things to expect with the upcoming patch

The patch not only brings the mini-map back to life but will also address several bug fixes and provide a nice addition of rework and balancing in-game.

  • There will be less avalanche of blessings (Religion)

  • City sentiment will be less punishing

  • Opening trade routes or hosting festivals will be possible even if you’re in debt (make sure to avoid reaching the -5000 debens or it’s a game over though.)

The UI and UX will also be subject to change in the future and represent a huge undertaking, to be honest. However, we’ve tackled small things that should improve your in-game experience:

  • The key binds for the overseers and overlays can open and close them

  • Added a few more key binds to the buttons that didn’t have any until then: undo, remove, housing, road, and roadblock (from the construction bar)

One of the main changes, in terms of QoL, in this update will be the suppression of buildings’ subcategories. Following this change, all buildings will be just a click away when opening the building bar.

Is there any ETA for this patch?

The patch will be going through the QA process to make sure to deploy this new update in the best conditions in the next weeks. The team is also pleased to announce that we’re already started working on another update that will include the next highly-requested native ultra-widescreen support. Now, it's time for us to get back to work.

On behalf of the whole Pharaoh: A New Era Team, we’d like to thank you all for playing and sharing constructive feedback and suggestions. Please keep in mind that even if we don’t always reply, we do keep an eye on every single thread and discussion going on.
