changedThe original Pascal's Wager was released on a vastly different platform, played on drastically smaller screensize with a different subset of control scheme. We were very clearly underprepared for the challenges and landscape of PC, and we would like to apologize for the suboptimal experience with the launch version of Pascal's Wager: Definitive Edition. With the amount of feedback gathered since release, we would like to talk about what we have in store for the game in terms of improvement and additions.
addedCamera and ControlsAdd an FOV slider.
changedCamera and ControlsSeparate controller and KB/M button prompts.
changedUser InterfaceThe original Pascal's Wager's interface was designed for much smaller screen sizes than PC monitors and TV. The current interface experience is largely adequate, but the visual quality is not what we intend for the game to look like. For the next phase of development, we plan to do some adjustment to the user interface in order to make it more at home for PC monitor usage.
addedVisual EffectsWe made several graphics enhancements for the Definitive Edition release. However, with much larger screens, the inadequacy of some of the original assets is quite clear (e.g., skybox in the first level). We plan to improve those shortcomings, and add more visual effect controls to game settings. In addition, we are adding new display mode for players to better utilize higher end hardware through DSR down sampling.
addedVisual EffectsAdd options for post process effects.

With the amount of feedback gathered since release, we would like to talk about what we have in store for the game in terms of improvement and additions.

Camera and Controls

Pascal's Wager's control fundamentals are directly geared towards using a controller as the primary means to play, and we clearly underestimated the amount of PC players that primarily use keyboard and mouse to play similar games. This resulted in suboptimal controls for keyboard and mouse players. We have already released several updates to address this, and we are continuing to optimize game control for all players.

  • Add an FOV slider.

  • Separate controller and KB/M button prompts.

User Interface

The original Pascal's Wager's interface was designed for much smaller screen sizes than PC monitors and TV. The current interface experience is largely adequate, but the visual quality is not what we intend for the game to look like. For the next phase of development, we plan to do some adjustment to the user interface in order to make it more at home for PC monitor usage.

Visual Effects

We made several graphics enhancements for the Definitive Edition release.

  • Improve some lower quality assets.

  • Add options for post process effects.

  • Add exclusive fullscreen display mode.

We are also continuing to address game bugs and improve overall game stability. Outside of the game, we also plan to add Steam trading cards, so players can showcase Pascal's Wager: Definitive Edition on their personal profile.

The development team thanks all players for your feedback and support for Pascal's Wager: Definitive Edition, and we as always welcome you to get in touch through Twitter, Steam discussion, and our official Discord server. Thank you for playing!
