Hi Owls!
Today we are releasing the final update to our demo, Parliament: First Flight! In this update, we have made quite a few changes, but we'll chat about a few of the bigger things below. Stay tuned for more information on the full game release in the coming months. We are excited to bring our entire vision to all of you soon!
Reworked Day/Night Cycle
We know that a major performance issue had been affecting a few of you with the previous demo release. Fun fact: it was actually affecting everyone, but some systems didn't seem to let you know about it... weird. Anywho, while implementing a fix for this issue, we decided to also rework the presentation of the cycle to make if fit better with the theme. We were going for "Saturday morning cartoon" feelings, so let us know if that comes through! Also, performance issues should be fixed now :).
Brand New Spawning System
While our spawning system was already pretty functional, it wasn't as dynamic as it needed to be to keep up with the speed of players moving through the levels. Now, enemies will spawn and despawn based on the location of the player. You should notice a lot more action far more often with this new system to keep you engaged in combat more consistently. Additionally, we made some improvements to critters to make them less resource heavy, so hopefully your framerates will improve with these changes!
A Huge Balance Pass
Seriously. As we continued testing, we kept feeling the same way: unchallenged. So, we made literally everything harder. We reduced all player related stats significantly. Prey now give smaller stat boosts and no XP. Predators give lots of XP, but now are more painful thanks to the player stat reductions. Pro tip: Gain some strength first by catching prey before taking on predators. Oh, and watch out for other birds of prey. They are painful.
Updated Abilities
We had a preview of our new Active/Passive system for abilities in the initial demo release. This has been fully realized now and each ability has their own actives and passives. Earn Ability Points by gaining XP and spend them on your favorite abilities to unlock their passives. Mix and match to find your perfect flow. Plus, our wonderful artist updated our ability icons. Avert your gaze to their awesomeness.
