I haven’t posted in a while but I wanted to let everyone know that doesn’t mean I haven’t been hard at work chipping away at progress.

BTW, the header and cover image of this announcement is what the navmesh looks like for the ai pathfinding. Pretty cool.

The game is still set to release in July, but there have been some changes in my plan. Please see below:

Updates:

  • Adding in key rebinding

  • The reapplication for the mega grant is on hold

  • Achievements are removed.

  • Card Unlocking has been removed.

  • Accessory unlocking has been removed

  • Simple ai in practice mode is done!

  • Grappling Improved and optimized.

  • Swimming improved and optimized.

  • Optimization is complete. (More on that later)

Unfortunately, I had to find a creative way to make it worth my effort to sink more time into it, and the complexities of tracking player levels based on wins, unlocking cards based on level, and unlocking accessories is just way out of the realm of realistic for me (along with configuring achievements).

Here is how the game is impacted:

  • It gets to be released in July!

  • Also, at a cheaper price than I initially planned.

  • I will create new cards periodically and pushed them as updates to the game, and everyone will have them available in their deck to be randomly drawn.

  • The same goes for accessories, though those are currently much lower priority.

  • The other races will also be created and released periodically.

  • As the collection of cards grows and nears completion, the game’s purchase price will increase slightly. Early players are rewarded in that sense.

How is it different than the demo?

The official game will have all of the cards that the demo does, and more. The demo will only ever contain the cards it currently has.

Thanks for bearing with me, as a solo developer (with significant early help with networking with Ramon Marrero) it's incredibly difficult to juggle such an ambitious game with all of my other responsibilities, but dang I love this game.

I can’t wait to get this more polished update pushed to the demo and released as the main game.

I’ll update you all again soon.

David
