Commanders,
We´ve just published a new update of our game today.
The main content of this update is a new German tier IV tank destroyer:
HETZER (Sd.Kfz. 138/2)
The Hetzer had a very progressive design. The fighting compartment was completely enclosed with sharply sloped walls. The upper and lower plates of the front wall were 60 mm thick. The slope of the upper plate was 60° from the vertical plane, while the lower plate was 40°. The sides and rear were only 20 mm thick, the roof was 8 mm thick, and the bottom of the vehicle was 10 mm thick. The Hetzer was 6.27 meters long with the gun and 4.77 meters long without it. It was 2.63 meters wide and only 1.85 meters high. The low silhouette made the Hetzer a difficult opponent to spot and hit, often giving it the advantage of the first surprise shot. The combat weight of the vehicle was 16 tons, three tons more than planned. However, it was not so much the total weight itself as its distribution that caused problems. The vehicle had a heavier front end due to its thick frontal armor and a gun with a relatively large barrel overhang. In addition, the transmission was located at the front of the hull, and the engine at the rear was not enough to counterbalance all this. (author: panzernet[dot]net)
What are the characteristics of this tank in our game?
Advantages
Manoueuvrability
Low silhouette
Relatively strong sloped frontal armour
High high-velocity anti-tank gun
Weaknesses
No rotating turret
Longer gun reload times
Weak side and rear armour protection
How to play this tank in our game?
Move and reposition fast, use the viewrange threshold for long range sniping
Use your powerfull PaK 39 L/48 75 mm well
Always face your enemy with your strong frontal armour
Role of the Hetzer tank destroyer in the WWII:
The vehicle proved itself very well in combat conditions. It was mobile, well-armed, and sufficiently resistant to enemy fire in head-on clashes. As combat unit reports show, the Hetzer was a reliable machine with a relatively low tendency to break down. It also proved very effective in street fighting, where the advantage of the remote-controlled machine gun was fully exploited.
