Paladin's Oath changes
2 small christmas gifts from me and another announcement:
Major Christmas Discount
A major discount to introduce new players to the game and increase the community of players Enjoy a first ever 75% off for the duration of Steam Winter Fest. This doesn't happen often so use this opportunity to try the game :) Please tell your friends! Mighty Dungeons (my older game) also gets a 75% off, so if you haven't picked it up now is the time.
New Game Modes
In case you didn't know Paladin's Oath supports modding. There is a web-based mod editor to create new game content, and you can also write LUA scripts to create new scenarios and game modes. I have created 5 new game mods to increase the level of challenge or change the way you play:
Pied Piper: You collect rats (Squealer follower) when you end your turn in Forest and Swamps, but they leave you if you ever end with wounds in hand.
Familiar: the first Follower you recruit becomes your familiar and cannot die, be exhausted or wounded. It will always end the turn resurrected, healed and refreshed.
Enemy Patrols: Rampaging enemies now move around the map every turn, making exploration more dynamic and challenging.
Unstable Magic: When you use spells, there is a chance for a magic surge to happen at end of turn with random effects. Positive effects like gaining a crystal or a card or duplicating one of your relics, or negative effects like followers exploding, card force-discard or a monster spawning nearby.
Spreading Desert: The lands are cursed and desert tiles spread by one hex every turn. Ending on a desert tile during the day triggers a random effect (player or follower takes a wound, followers become exhausted or you lose a crystal).
To add them to the game head to the workshop and subscribe to each mod, they will be automatically downloaded by steam the next time you start the game. Restart the game (in case they are not loaded immediately). You can enable the game mods when you create a new Crusade, a "Scenario Extension" button is automatically added to the bottom right corner before you start the mission.
These 5 mods get added to the existing collection of mods like:
Consecrator: Every non-fortified location is turned into a temple after you conquer it.
Tiles Rotation: Randomizes the position of Hexes on a map tile.
Shadow of Death: A Harbinger of Death follows you around the map blocking your retreat until it is defeated.
Bleeding Heart: You are gravely wounded and gain 1 wound every turn. There is no way to stop the bleeding. This creates a race against the clock with managing healing and ending in the right spaces to clear those wounds slowly clogging your hand.
As well as extra scenarios, paladins, enemies, a multiplayer mod and more. Check the workshop for all the available items and the documentation to create your own. Don't hesitate to reach out on Steam, Reddit or Discord.
Special Announcement: Escape Game Book
As some of you know, I'm a hobbyist game designer and after launching Paladin's Oath a few years ago, I ended up building escape game and escape rooms. I recently decided to port one of those escape games as a narrative experience and published it on Amazon. You can find purchase the printed book here if you are looking for a christmas gift for yourself or a friend. The book is about finding the treasure of your ancestor (a pirate captain from Southeast Asia), by going through a series of interconnected puzzles. The book is fully self contained (no website or app) and you can bring it on the plane, train or on the beach if you are escaping from the snow! Thank you for the great community since the launch of Paladin's Oath and happy holidays!
