Pact of Steel changes
New Factions
We have added two brand new factions, the British, and the Italians. They are releasing with the Cromwell and Carro Armato M Celere Sahariano (M16/43) respectively. With our ongoing tank overhaul, we thought we'd start by implementing brand-new destroyed models for all of our tanks, this is the quality you can expect for the remainder of the tanks in the game.
Cromwell
Unit Stats
Carro Armato M Celere Sahariano (M16/43)
Unit Stats
These tanks will be a cheaper, and slightly weaker alternative to the current medium tanks, the Pz IV and Sherman. While they trade raw damage, they will make up for it in attack speed, movement speed, and quantity to be placed. They are Primary Units so their Squad Buff is: +5% PEN and 5% DMG.
Mortar Unit
A Mortar has been added to both the Allies and the Axis. This unit will work similarly to the already existing grenadier, although will have significantly increased range, damage, and splash damage radius, but with the cost of bullet travel time, attack speed, and accuracy. They are a Primary Unit so their Squad Buff is: +55 flat Splash Radius
This unit will currently have the highest damage potential out of any unit in the game, assuming many enemies get hit with one mortar shell.
Unit Stats
Special Range Type
The Mortar has a special range type, with a dead zone in the middle where enemies will not be targeted. To counter this you have to place the unit a bit further back from the path, we are interested to see how this mechanic plays out.
Information View
Our original path arrows were not up to par and were difficult to see. So we developed a new view that is accessible by pressing TAB while in-game. This will allow you to see all the paths present, where the final objective for the enemies is, all spawn locations of infantry and vehicles. your placed units and hostile enemies. There is also some extra buttons to show your units total range coverage to see where they can all shoot and the guide is also one of these buttons.
Other Features
Redid all camera start positions to better allow a new player to understand their surroundings
Increased the amount you can zoom out on certain maps, to allow you to fully see the whole map
Proper enemy unit path detection, with our new mortar unit they need to be able to lead a unit so knowing which path is required
UI Changes:
Updated Forest 1-5 Images in Playmenu
Updated Winter 1 Image in Playmenu
Moved Healthbar to top right and made the control buttons on bottom right bigger
Crash restore now gives more info on the game it is trying to restore to
Bug Fixes:
Keybinds are back, but we don't believe they actually save if you exit the game. This is due to Epic's new enhanced input action system. We are using their save functionality, but we believe it is broken.
Removed the Blue Unit ID Circles
Disable being able to disregard crash popup
Fixed grenade sound attenuation
A limited number of sounds
Miscellaneous Crash Fixes
Upgraded from C++ 20 from C++ 17
Fixed American Tank Hitboxes being improperly sized
Fixed static mesh being used as ghost units
Fixed a potential pathing failure by implementing a deterministic path selection
Fixed grenadier Explosive Radius Squad Buff, it will now give 31 increased radius flat, versus giving 0.1.
